Oddly I can't reproduce this on my W10 laptop with either 2.3.2 or the RC03 latest release Candidate for the upcoming 2.3.3

1) record track
2) pause
3) Export as Mp3
4) observe MP3 file is exported

LAME is already bundled-in Audacity in 2.3.2 - and it's for MP3 export.

You need to install the FFmpeg from that download page.

I agree that it is not very useful at the moment ... I always think it would be a lot more useful if we had a Render MIDI command to turn a MIDI Note track into an audio track. you can't mix MIDI and audio tracks.

There is no "Render" to turn MIDI into proper audio in Audacity.

a) import MIDI files
b) play the MIDI file
c) do very simple editing and export back

You're using pre-release, experimental, unproven software?

No - we released 2.3.0 on 29Sep18 and we've had two releases after that with 2.3.2 as the latest release.
