Are you using WASAPI host with loopback input device to try to record what is playing on your computer?

If so the Audacity won't record (and the record head won't move) unless and until it picks up an active input signal..

I am unable to reproduce this on my W10 laptop/ Tested a muti-stereo track project 5 tracks 3-5 minutes long on 2.2.2 and 2.3.3 and I can detect no difference in the sclick&drag selections with all tacks fit to height and a) fit to screen width b) mormal zoom level. Same also on the latest alpha...

I can't reproduce this on W10 with 2.3.3 or the latest alpha test build I have for 2.4.0

You should be able to write yourself a little macro that does the Import and then the Normalize.

Can you please try updating to the latest 2.3.3 version of Audacity and tell us if this still happens?

We recommend the -6db for recording tom provide headroom. As your final production step it is perfectly good practice to use Amplify of Normalize to adjust the audio level. When Dominic Mazzoni first wrote Audacity he set the default level for Normalize to be -3 dB - we have subsequently reset that ...

I presume you mean the OKing to accept the metadata for each file.

If that's the case then just turn that optoion off.

I (We at Audacity) know it's "uncomfortable" and awkward to use - but I can assure you it does work, I tested thoroughly before I posted my previous reply.

Did you turn on the Scrub Ruler (right-click in the Timeline and turn it on) - that makes it a little easier to use.
