Testing on my W10 laptop (SSD)

I created a 27 minute 256 MP3 stereo file - export took 37 seconds.

Import took 7 seconds on both 2.3.3 and the latest test alpha build I have for 2.4.0

Your option if you wish to continue using aliased files is to continue using an older version of Audacity 2.3.2 say - the downside to that is that you would not get any new features and bug fixes. But since we do continue to support, in 2.3.3 and later older projects that still rely on aliased files...
