Re: Best way to record live show off board?
level, take alatham's advice and get yourself an external soundcard. I personally use the Edirol UA-1EX that he mentions. I don't use it from a board - I take RAC inputs from my turntable/pre-amp and from my cassette deck also digital input from my minidisc. In all these configurations it produces e...

Re: creating multiple mp3's out of one song
bicho, level's method will work absolutely fine - but a quicker way will be to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) t...

Re: splitting recorded concerts
Please don't double post - it wastes everbody's time - and usually doesn't mean your qury gets answered any quicker. See my response to you on your other post. But for the extra bit you ask her - yes you can get tehm into iTunes library and then an iPod if required - simply import the MP3 or WAV fil...

Re: Splitting trcks into multiple songs
All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever. The ...

Re: Files sounds Garbled opened with Audacity, fine in itune
Michael, iTunes should be able to do that for you - copied below is a page from the iTunes Help ...... Alternatively you could play it in iTunes and record it in Audacity - this is the long way round if you have a lot of files to convert. For songs purchased from iTunes, the 128 DRM ones, though you...

Re: First step instaling Audacity
I would be surprised if you could get access to the input selector dropdown with a USB deck connected. When a USB deck (like your Lenco) is plugged in then the device takes sole control ovre the input and the input selector is thus greyed out and inaccessible.

Re: recording 78s
Yes that is quite easy to do with the Change Speed effect. What you will have more trouble with is applying the correct RIAA equalisation curve for 78s - this is a different RIAA curve to that ised later for vinyl recordings. You can do this with hardware with a pre/amp amp if that amp has either a ...

Re: Unhiding Track Panels
I think you'll find that you can't - because clicking the X doesn't hide the track - it deletes it (this is normal "Windows" behaviour - e.g. the X in the top right hand corner of any windows panel).

Re: auto stop
In 1.3.x there is a new timed recording feature.
In the Audacity Wiki you can read a work-around for how to do exactly what you want, i.e. stop recording after a timed interval.

Re: save program in file menu is greyed out
You have probably only "Paused" your recording (or started recording again). You need to make sure that you "Stop" the recording before Audacity will activate the Save Project menu items.
