Re: slowing down audio - way down: request advice

Steve,

I think you need the "Change Speed" effect which should be right above the "Change Tempo".

Re: Lost AUDACITY data file

Just to add a little to Koz' excellent and extensive reply (he does make it sound easy doesn't he) .... I totally agree with him that you will be much better off breaking your LP recordings up into separate tracks (but only after all your editing click repair etc). If you don't do that then you will...

Re: The mixer tool bar won't let me select an input source

Usually that happens when you plug in a USB deck like the ION, Numark. The device takes control over the input and thus input selection is greyed out - recording should take place ok with the USB device in control. If that's not the case - you haven't supplied any information about your h/w and conn...

Re: Overwriting WAVs

Workaround: just delete the old WAV file first (or re-name it). I think that Audacity is just trying to be kind to you and not over-write your existing file. It could be a little more helpful and ask if you want to over-write, and if you don't, then allow you choose your own new filename. Koz, your...

Re: Amazing!

In the Audacity Wiki (which you will find a good and usefule read anyway) http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page - you will find a major section called "Developing Audacity" which has a subsection called "Feature Requests".

Re: Clicks created at each edit point

For the rough edit I am highlighting a section of irrelevant tape and just hitting the Delete key (this is probably a bad thing to do). Simanza Yes, I suspect that this is likely to be your problem. If you just do a simple delete then you are extremely likely to create a disjoint waveform - which w...

Re: Request: Skin

marcosba,

In Audacity 1.3.x there is a new "experimental feature called themability - accessed via Preferences/Theme.

So far most of us have not been brave enough to mess with this stuff ......

Do give it a try and report back so we can learn from you.

Re: Problems with Realtek hda

The input options that are available to you are entirely dependent on your Sondcard and its drivers - youv'e already updated the drivers so it looks as though you may be stuck. You may need to consider an external soundcard (two that get recommended on this forum a lot ar the Behringer and the Ediro...

Re: Why does my Audacity keep closing on me?

Adding to Koz' advice - defragging does usually help - it sorted the problem that your'e having for me. To defrag your disk in XP: open windows Explorer right click on the disc dive Select Properties from the drop-down the default General tab will show you how much disk space you have left Click the...

Re: Best way to record live show off board?

level, take alatham's advice and get yourself an external soundcard. I personally use the Edirol UA-1EX that he mentions. I don't use it from a board - I take RAC inputs from my turntable/pre-amp and from my cassette deck also digital input from my minidisc. In all these configurations it produces e...
