Re: Audio Input quality

There should be such a drop-down - my 1.2.6 has it. There are some circumstances where it gets greyed-out e.g. if you connect a Numark or ION USB deck.

Re: Cannot debug these weird clicks

Under EDIT there is a tool called Find Zero Crossings. That tool is supposed to get rid of this problem by sliding each edit slightly to an acoustically irrelevant place. Koz Yes, Koz, but for me it doesn't always find a good "acoustically irrelevant" place - sometimes it finds a zero crossing with...

Re: Audio Input quality

The very first thing you need to do is to upload the latest version 1.2.6 from the Audacity site http://audacityteam.org/

Then retry - and post again if you still have problems.

Re: Label Track limit on text entries?

Michal - you can give the label track more room to operate in by expanding the track - click your cursor on the bottom of the label track and drag it down.

Re: Issue with Clipped Files on Open

These files were straight CD rips by iTunes. I'll see if I can get them to work via conversion or something. Ah.... then almost certainly you have ripped them in Apple propritetary format AAC - Audacity does not support this -it cannot as it is proprietary to Apple. However you can use your iTunes ...

Re: What's included with the software

Short answer - yes. Long answer: 1) labelling/tracks - yes it is easy to create labels (though note that labelling is MUCH improved in the Beta version of Audacity). Then once the Audacity Project is fully labelled - then use Audacity's Export Multiple (to say MP3 or WAV - depending on the fidelity ...

Re: High speed dubbing from cassette?

Yes it can be done - you can use Audacity's "Change Speed" effect later to get it back to the right speed. There is a strong possibility of losing high-frequency fidelity this way. Personally I would just do it in real-time - 15 tapes is not a lot. The other advantage is that you can listen while yo...

Re: Lost AUDACITY data file - click removal

ok next mini tutorial........ Personally I have never had much joy with the click removal effect in Audacity - so what I have done is to remove them manually. Version 1.3 of Audacity is much better for this as the developers have added a new "Repair" effect - this will mend a broken portion of wavef...

Re: Separate tracks in the mix?

All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever. The...
