Re: dell/vista can only record with microphone
Keith, you may wish to consider using an external soundcard - two that get mentioned favourably on this forum are the Behringer UC202 and the Edirol UA-1EX. The Behringer is a little cheaper - the Edirol has more functionality. I personally have been iusing the Edirol for several months now with goo...

Re: recording album tracks onto a hard drive
The easiest way to transcribe an LP is to record the whole LP as a single project in one go. Press Pause (not Stop) when side 1 has finished and the press Pause again to resume recording after turning the record over. Then you need to identify the track breaks and create labels at each track break, ...

Re: stereo export
Ah, I see .......
No, Koz, it does not do that conversion - it just drags in the WAV or the MP3. Cute way to get AAC's into iTunes - I didn't realise you could do that.
Where in iTunes do you get to set the bitrate for WVA=>AAC conversion on import?

Re: stereo export
gas, I may be missing something .... but I don't understand why you are "importing" MP3 files into iTunes. The mechanism in iTunes that you should use, and definitely works for me both with MP3s and WAVs produced with Audacity from vinyl , is the "Add File to Library" or "Add Folder to Library". WC

Re: Noob questions: Audacity vs. Finyl Vinyl; Normalizing/EQ
Neither the Behringer nor the Edirol have pre-amps in them - they are purely sound cards - but sound cards that do the job.....
Sorry can't comment on pre-amps on eBay, as I've no experience of those - anybody else have a view?

Re: Noob questions: Audacity vs. Finyl Vinyl; Normalizing/EQ
You would probably be better off passing the signal through a preamp/amp first using the phono socket, rather thn plugging the deck straight into the Griffin. That way the hardware will apply the RIAA - and you will get better control over the signal level. Given the age of the deck/cartridge I woul...

Re: I.E. cannot open the Internet Site
Tory 1.3 has more features/functionality added to it e.g. labelling is much better handled in 1.3, and 1.3 hasc an ace ne REpair effect for manually fixing click/pops. But be aware that 1.3 as Beta is billed as "Unstable" - i.e the developers are saying its work-in-progress and may be buggy or crash...

Re: no wave out mix option
what exactly do you think i should upgrade? Upgrade the device drivers for your soundcard - this is the software that makes your soundcard work/talk to the computer. You need to find out the make/model of soundcard that you have and then Google your brains out to find the latest device drivers for ...

Re: no wave out mix option
The input options available to you in the drop-down are entirely dependent on your particular soundcard and its drivers. Sometimes upgrading the driver software to the latest versions increases the options (search t'interweb for your latest drivers).
