Re: Preamp Causing Distortion
Marvin, no - applying the gain is not quite the same as using the pre-amp. There are two processes involved: 1) re-applying the RIAA equalisation curve 2) amplification of the signal so if all you are doing is applyoing the gain then you are doing 2) and not 1) If it were me I would prefer to use th...

Re: cannot hear converted wav (or mp3)
[quote="sjp1966"]Someone or soemthing had altered the default playback device in Sounds and Audio devices to USB Audio Codec.[quote]
Plugging in the USB device has probably done that - they have a tendency to take over the audio.
Good that you found how to fix it.

Re: How delete parts of file and break up tracks?
To segment the WAV, import it into Audacity (or work with your original Audacity project if you still have it), then place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command...

Re: Stupid Newbee question- no sound in wav/ MP3!!
I doubt very much that un-installing Audacity could cure this for you - but ...... More likely I would suspect that your LENCO takes over the sound on your PC when it's plugged in. It is a USB device, right? If so then try unplugging the USB from the LENCO at your PC and then try playing WAV/MP3 wit...

Re: small 12 secs clips
This is what's supposed to happen. When you save an Audacity project as <project_name> it creates a number of things: 1. a top level master project file called <project_name>.aup 2. a folder at the same filing level called <project_name_data> 3. and within the folder a sub-folder structure with lots...

Re: Preamp Causing Distortion
In theory you should be much better using the pre-amp, provided that it has a phono input, as then the hardware will apply the RIAA equalisation (when vinyl record masters are cut the engineers apply RIAA equalisation to basically ensure that the stylus doesn't travel too far on loud and bassy bits)...

I do sympathise - even if you have a team of full-time paid-for programmers, software development always takes a lot of effort - so we do appreciate the efforts that you guys put in on our behalf in your spare time.
Thanks,

Re: MP3 Editing
If you are using iTunes/iPod there is a setting which will do this for you - the entire library is scanned and iTunes which ones need the wick turning up and which need turning down.
I have no experience of other MP3 players - but I suspect that similar functionality may be available.

Re: Best way to split up a large file
All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs to burn to CD with you...
