Re: Editing CD tracks for burning to CD in iTunes
Assuming that you still have the CDs - then I would strongly recommend that you re-rip them as WAVs ( you can use iTunes to do this - Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Import Using. I set up a separate user id and library to do this so as not toi confuse my normal AAC library. Or you can find some other sof...

Re: Count up timer
Jim, Is there a way to display a count up timer so I can see exactly how much time is being recorded? I know there is a time line, but this isn't as useful as a timer running on screen. In 1.3.x therre is a set of counters added at the bottom left of the window - for Selection Start/end and current ...

Re: Converting .cda files
I assume that these .cda files are coming from a CD - and that you still have the CD - in which case all you need to do is to rip the CD to WAV/MP3/AAC. There is plenty of (free) software out there that will do that for you - including iTunes. If you are going to rip them to work on in Audacity, the...

Re: markers
try working from the back to the front - then the earlier times will remain valid.
I do this when working on Audacity recordings of radio shows when I want to get rid of the chat between the music.

Re: Funny Blips - HELP
Jim, are you sure that you've taken alatham's advice and ensured that you don't have a virus checker running? If you have done that - and as Andy says set the project rate to 44.1kHz (the iTTUSB supports this rate - I used to run an ION like that). Also on the Audacity/Preferences/Quality make sure ...

Re: Intermittent white noise
The usual advice i sto ensure that you have enough free disc space and that the disc is de-fragged - AND that you minimize the number of background tasks, particularly virus- checking. You may want to disbale virus checking temporarily while you record - BUT if you do this, then disconnect from t'in...

Re: Importing from h4 Zoom?
You are trying to import a file format that is not supported by Audacity (Audacity supports, WAV/AIFF, MP3, OGG - and in 1.3 FLAC).
You will either need to find some software that will convert your format - ot play them in to Audacity and record them.

Re: LABELS
Effects: You can select a portion of the audio to apply an effect to by clicking and dragging with the cursor. The simplest way to select the whole project is to use the Ctrl-A shortcut. Labels: yes, labelling is used to create track labels for the MP3 tags on export - and it can be used to separat...

Re: Combining files without losing quality?
Yes you are right that it would re-encode and that quality degradation would result, even at 320. IIRC from reading other threads on the forum there are some software tools available out there which will simply stitch together MP3 files for you - I have no experience of these, but I suggest you have...

Re: Balancing left and right channels
Yes you can work on each channel separately - you will need to use the "Split Stereo Track" command - available as on eof the dopdowns from the little downward pointing triangle in the track control box. When you've finished your editin then yiou can select both tracks - and from the same dropdown l...
