That's odd - but my setup is abit odd too.
I do have a.cfg file - only one inspite of the fact that I have two Audacity user accounts on my PC - I have posted a follow-up query to Richard Ash on the other thread that you found.

Re: Set audacity to default settings
.... the per-user configuration file: Windows: Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacityaudacity.cfg Richard, some clarification here please. I have Audacity accessed from two different user names on Windows XP home. But there only appears to be one .cfg file on the pc - the user th...

Re: Mixing Tutorial - General Methods
though if you're recording to 24 or 32-bit, then it's not really that necessary to record as loud as you can. Andy, can you elucidate on this a bit please. Does it mean that if you are recording/editing in 32 bit then you can record at a low safe level well below clipping - and then amplify/normali...

Re: What's a good setting for Spectograms?
Thanks for this insight Andy - and for the prompt response - most hepful and insighful. All working sweetly for me again now. Slower running is not a problem as I detect the genearal location of the clicks with my ears, with Audacity running in waveform - then zoom in and shift to spectrum view to i...

Re: Inserting Track breaks
CORRECTION  You can add labels while Audacity is recording - I just tested it on 1.2 and 1.3 You may not want to though as recording is a very compute and disc intensive process anyway - also if you edit bits out later then the labels will not move in line with the edited tracks. You may, for...

Re: Inserting Track breaks
You can only do this after you have finished recording - similarly the effects can only be applied after recording, not during. Such dynamic functionality would take much more compute power - and a lot more programming effort from those kind people who donate their time for free to bring us this gre...

Re: Default settings?
Lynn Unistalling and reinstalling will not work as Audacity leaves behind you prefences file - so when you re-install, it just picks up your old preferences again - as you found out. Part of the problem is that there is no un-install functionality for Audacity. IIRC there are other posyings on the f...

Re: Can't change volume
If you do need to replace your soundcard, I would recommend you consider and external card - the Behringer UCA202 and the Edirol UA-1EX both get mentioned favourably on these forums (I use the Edirol very successfully for LP/tape transcriptions). The Behringer is cheaper - the Edirol has more functi...

Audacity playing the same track twice - but not repeatable
saI came this morning to a recording made yesterday evening off-air from FM radio using the timer record function - procect file saved and Audacity and PC closed down. When I played it Audacity played the track twice about 1/2 second apart - sonding like a track echo. The wave forms looked normal th...

Re: Inserting Track breaks
All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever. The...
