Will iTunes just work in Vista?

Kzo

I wouldn't dare try at this point in time - my iTunes library is far too precious to risk to a new OS ...... - I plan on sticking with XP/HE for a while yet.

Re: Set audacity to default settings

Ah... that explains a lot - thanks for that insight Richard. Does that mean that in 1.2 you cannot easily revert to the Audacity defaults? Also I presume that since there is no Audacity Un-install functionality - then once you have installed 1.2.x and made changes to preferences - then you will end ...

Re: Restoring old audio recordings.

Yes, audio editing is something which definitely improves with practice - no substitute for miles on the clock. My early attempts were very ham-fisted, to the extent that I may sometime go back and revisit them (fortunately I saved the raw unedited WAVs at the time). And your timescale does'nt sound...

Re: Best way

Personally I have never had much joy with the click removal effect in Audacity - so what I have done is to remove them manually. Version 1.3 of Audacity is much better for this as the developers have added a new "Repair" effect - this will mend a broken portion of waveform, up to 128 samples, by int...

Re: Another Drop-Down Menu not dropping and i aint got a USB

The Audacity developers do read these boards and sometimes reply to queries - but they spend a lot of their spare time just writing and fixing the code for us - so don't get much time for this. What you see in that drop-down box is entirely dependent on you souncard and its installed driver software...

Re: Another Drop-Down Menu not dropping and i aint got a USB

Although I can seem to record and playback LP's OK , but i may need the facility later. There is an old engineering maxim that says "if it ain't broke - don't fix it" - I would just get on with the LPs for now and then cross that future bridge when you come to it - Audacity may have changed by then...

Re: mp3 Lame Encoder not found

If you really can't get it to work in Audacity - then what I would do is export as WAVs and find a piece of conversion software that will convert from WAV to MP3 - have a trawl of t'interweb If you are using an iPod then you can use the WAV's to burn a music CD and then import the CD into your iTune...

Re: Nebie Having Trouble

Jack, All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. You should not do this while Audacity is recording - finish the recording - do any edits (click/pop removal etc.) - thendo the tr...

Re: Restoring old audio recordings.

What you can try is to delete the offending section - but do make sure that you have a smoth transition or you will introduce a new click at the join. You can either use Audacity to "Edit/Find zero crossings" - this will adjust your selected region to start and end at zero crossing points - this new...

Replacement cartridge/stylus - any suggestions

The IONs are stunningly cheap for what you get. Sometimes too cheap. Just a further lesson in how cheap the IONs are ..... My Shure ML120HE cartridge shed its diamond stylus this morning. I can either get it re-tipped by a little specialist stylus company in the UK for £60 ($120) - or I found a new...
