Re: Static on Playback
Are you running virus checker software? If so try turning it off while recording - but do disconnect your computer from t'interweb or your network temporarily while you do this. Audacity writes out a lot of little .au files (the sound samples) at short intervals - some virus checkers take up too muc...

Re: Separate tracks in the mix?
It's not Audacity, it's likely to be down to your CD burner trying to be "helpful" by inseting a little track break for you. If you read the documentation/Help for your particular CD burner you should finfd a setting whereby you can turn this facility off. Personally I prefer to create my own track ...

Re: creating separate song tracks
All you need to do is to place a label at each track break - use the Ctrl-B shortcut - and don't forget to place a label right at the beginning for the first track. Then use Audacity's Export Multiple command (available from the File drop-down) to export a multiple set of WAVs, MP3s or whatever. The...

Re: The same volume
There is an iTunes/iPod setting which will do this for you - a quick read of the iPod manual p34 reveals the you Select Settings > Sound Check P33 tells you how to do the same in iTunes by Edit > Preferences - click Effects and select Sound Check It doesn't actually modify the MP3s (you don't really...

Re: No Playback
When you import a WAV/AIFF into Audacity - it doesn't actually import a copy - it only makes a pointer to wher the file is stored. So while you are working on the project, then you will need to WAV/AIFF to remain where it was when you imported it - no deleting, no editing, no messing .... This nuanc...

Re: Applying Equalizer
Are you sure that the bassy hum is not on the original vinyl - and it's just because the you've lifted the floor that you can hear it now? If you happen to have a copy of Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland on vinyl "rotting" in that box of yours - pop that on the TT and record it into Audacity - in the ...

Re: selecting & exporting multiple tracks?
This is odd - it should work. You do have the tracks running sequentially one after the other - and not all starting at zero, right? If so then you can produce a singe stereo pair track by selecting all the tracks (use Ctrl-A shortcut) the use Tracks/Mix and Render. BTW: for future reference rather ...

George Martin didn't care either when he was recording the Beatles in early stereo - and he's one of the best .....alatham wrote:I'm sure many would balk at putting the vocals off-center, but I don't care.

I certainly turned it off Koz - and it remains off. I don't like anyone messing with my original settings - or the recording engineer's work either (except me via the volume control) .....kozikowski wrote:I don't know anybody who ever turned it off.

Re: Ability to record stopped working?
cpl,
just to confirm alatham's advice - do ensure that you plug in the USB device before firing up Audacity - if you plug it in after it is extremely unlikely that Audacity will recognize it - certainly works like that on my setup (with both and external USB soundcard or an ION iTTUSB).
