Re: which effect to compress spikes, not surrounding audio?
Cool. Thanks for the link.
Is there any help file or description that can help me understand what "Wet level" and "residual level" actually mean/do?

Re: which effect to compress spikes, not surrounding audio?
hmmm, I just took a look around and couldn't find a built-in plugin (the "leveller" begins @ 20db & seems a bit too klunky for my needs).
Any suggestions for a suitable limiter plugin?
Thanks

Re: which effect to compress spikes, not surrounding audio?
Sounds exactly what I'm looking for (given that it's a snort & nothing else is audible, all that I need is that it's less loud). The reason I ask is because I usually try to take these peaks out as my first processing step & then apply a 2:1 compression on the remaining audio. In the interests of qu...

Re: which effect to compress spikes, not surrounding audio?
Sounds good.
I'm trying to do the filtering all in one go (without going to each snort & selecting it).
So if I was to use a limiter, would it affect the audio below the threshold at all (the compressor does during it's decay cycle)?
Thanks

which effect to compress spikes, not surrounding audio?
Hi all, I'm looking for an effect to compress spikes (most often when a lavalier mic gets snorted into :-) ). At the moment, I've been using the inbuilt compressor, but I've noticed that even when the decay is set to 1 second, it still compresses the following audio unacceptably. These spikes genera...

Re: Easy Auto Cross-Fade implementation
hmmm, well, that's one above me--I'm not even a programmer. Basically, I took your effect, and set it up so that "cross" was the default effect, and +.691 the default shape paramater (by the way, running it with "0" seems to return an error) Then I created two copies with different effect names (& t...

Re: Easy Auto Cross-Fade implementation
OK, so I worked on Dave's variable shape cross fade filter and created a couple new filters to do the trick. Two more questions: 1) Is there a function to get a filter to run with the default settings (without pressing enter, or the "OK" button) 2) Is there a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to a c...

Re: Easy Auto Cross-Fade implementation
Hey Dave,
That's great--almost exactly what I had in mind.
Is there any way you could just add a reverse cross effect (it's pretty counter intuitive to have to add an extra track, and then to add an extra track selection just to obtain the cross-fade-out effect on the top track).
Thanks,
Bert
