Re: default "quality" setting 1.2.6 and 2.0
Would I be correct to presume that in Edit-Preferences the High Quality Conversion - Sample Rate Conversion default is the highest quality possible? (for all versions of Audacity released since 1.2.6). I can't think of a reason why default would be anything below the best quality possible. So am I c...

Re: default "quality" setting 1.2.6 and 2.0
I feel like I'm having a flashback short circuit as well!!!, sort of.... I'm currently using the latest Audacity, but I'm just thinking back to when previously I was using 1.2.6 and 2.0 to do a lot of (pitch/tempo) "speed" correcting of 80's analog cassette tapes..., and I didn't realise back then y...

Re: default "quality" setting 1.2.6 and 2.0
Hi. OK thanks, so I am correct in saying sample rate Quality default for 1.2.6 is "High Quality" (the best possible at the time)? I checked the manual at the link below you said is for 2X, the picture says "best slowest quality", however in the version 2.0 I'm asking about the highest quality is cal...

default "quality" setting 1.2.6 and 2.0
Hello, I'm trying to find out what the default Quality settings were for the old 1.2.6 and 2.0 versions of Audacity. I've tried downloading each from the following link where you can download old versions of Audacity, http://www.oldapps.com/audacity.php, however I noticed unless you clear the 1.2.6 ...

Re: change dither to none? in quality settings?
I've reported the issue to the developers. This bug has been present since at least the 2.0.0 release. Obviously not many people listen to silence with volume cranked all the way up ;) Most definitely not required to listen to silence with the volume all the way up to notice it.... I can hear that ...

Re: change dither to none? in quality settings?
Hi,
When I go to File-Import your FLAC Audacity says it can not find FFMPEG, however your FLAC will open with File-Open.
My other FLACS will open with File-Import, just having the problem with the one you sent me...

Re: change dither to none? in quality settings?
Hi, Well... I just downloaded your 2 files, and the WAV has a lot more hiss than the FLAC!, played in Audacity, Adobe 1.5 and GoldWave.... (earphones with volume right up), the FLAC has NO hiss, the WAV has VERY CLEAR hiss... I wonder what this could be? It's only happening with the dither shaped WA...

Re: change dither to none? in quality settings?
Hi, The process is as I posted 2 posts ago, I think I have included every detail.... I got the same results with 2 other songs I saved from an album, seems to be that as long as there is silence before the track the WAV will have louder hiss... For example, it happens with this original file: http:/...

Re: change dither to none? in quality settings?
Hi, Going through the process you listed produces 2 files which seem to have the same amount of hiss to me...., the WAV and FLAC seem to be the same... However I just downloaded Audacity on a completely different computer (PC not my laptop), and doing the exact process' I have previously described a...
