Re: Substracting sound for Tinnitustreatment
Since you generated tinnitus-like sound, I assume you know the approximate frequency to filter-out. Otherwise, you don't need the tinnitus-like sound file. Subtraction won't work, but you can filter-out those frequencies using the suggestions in the other thread. ------------------------------------...

Re: recording vinyl clipping!
Is this a clipping effect due to the levels being too high? I can't seem to get them low enough Yes. If you are getting clipping [/u] [/color], the level is too high, or more-likely, the gain (in the soundcard/soundchip) is too high. High gain also means that the noise is boosted along with the sig...

Re: WAV Files
You can't... Your ears are probably the best tool. For example, if the background noise changes or the volume or changes or sound character changes, maybe that part was recorded at a different time under different conditions. But, it's possible to remove parts or move parts around, and if you do a g...

Re: Problems installing and to edit Mp3
I don't know what the problem is... Maybe there's something "funny" about this particular MP3 file. But, I'll sugget a work-around... Try using a different program to decode your file to WAV (or maybe FLAC) before editing with Audacity. As long as you have installed LAME, you should be able to save-...

Re: How to modify the spectrum of an audio?
Yeah... We need to know what you're really trying to accomplish. You can simply generate some high-frequency tones, or the simplest way to increase the frequency/pitch of an existing file is to simply speed-up playback. Or, you might want an Exciter effect which adds high-frequency harmonics. ...a r...

Re: High pitch sound
Not quite sure what you mean about using head phones, I used a ear mounted mic. He thinks you might be getting feedback , which is a squeal that happens when the sound feeds-back from the speakers into the mic. You get an out-of-control feedback loop that causes a loud high-piched noise. I'm sure y...

Re: How 2 audio files of same bit rate sound different
I downloaded the above files from the internet, I didn't really know how they came about though. There's your answer... You don't know where these files originally came from, or what was done to them. Maybe someone used Audacity or another audio editor to alter one of the files? They may be...

Re: How to remove background voice
I don't own one of those Zoom recorders, but I'm not sure how that happened... It's not easy to "accidentally" mix two audio files and I don't think that recorder has a "sound-on-sound" feature... (It's kind-of like superimposing two images on top of each other... It can happen with a film camera if...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
I think we need some more details about how everything is connected... I assume the mic is not being used for the instrument? I assume the instrument is a guitar and you are recording direct (no amp)? You asked about overloading the mic, but I'm not sure if you are even using the mic on the guitar. ...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
I can't listen to your file right now 'cause I'm at work. Looking at the waveform, it's not badly clipped. The waveform is clipped (the wave is squared-off) around the 2:13 mark. It doesn't hit 0dB, so it looks like the analog signal was clipped before hitting the analog-to-digital converter, which ...
