Re: getting the correct FFmpeg_v0.6.2 fro Audacity for Windo
Do I want the zip file? The notes I have are about an installer? Where would I find the installer instead of the zip file? The EXE file is the "installer". You don't need the ZIP file unless you want to un-ZIP it manually. You don't need anything extra to export to (save as) WAV. You need LAME (not...

Re: Need advice on video game music
I'd look for some free music released Creative Commons which is "open source" for music (or other creative work). Although the copyright for most classical music has expired, the copyright on the recording or performance generally has not. So you can use Beethoven if you create the "performance" you...

Re: AUDITION CD USING MUSIC AND NARRATION ON AUDACITY
I've never used one, but I believe the Yeti is a fine microphone. You'll also need a good quiet & "studio", and some sound absorbsion wouldn't hurt. The acoustics (and your voice ;) ) are probably more important than the mic as long as the mic is of reasonable quality. You can always adjust the "cha...

Re: Mistake exporting to mp3
mbissette1, I know this advice comes too late - Computers are the least reliable devices we own... :( If you are recording something critical and there's no chance for "take two", it's best if you have a 2nd back-up system recording in parallel. That back-up can be another computer, a DVD or CD reco...

Re: Recording telephone calls is no longer working
This Tutorial shows you how to select the input you want to record. If you have a laptop, make sure you've selected the external mic, and not the built-in mic. Windows has separate recording & playback mixers, so you don't always record exactly what you hear from the computer speakers. (And FYI - T...

Re: recording both microphone audio and speaker audio
:( I don't think that's going to work... The Windows recording "mixer" generally only allows one input at a time to be recorded. However, the Windows output mixer is a true mixer and it allows you to mix multiple sources/inputs. So, if you can route your mic signal to the speaker-output (and if you ...

Re: Sampling old vinyl
In short am i unable to use the power from my sterio system ""not mentioned sorry"... Only if you have an older stereo with phono-in i.e. a built-in phono preamp) and tape-outputs. Tape outputs are line level, and I believe your mixer has stereo line-ins. Or, you can get a phono preamp and run the ...

Re: Poor recording from mixer using RCA to USB cable
Its as if the booth output on the n4 doesnt give out good enough sound signal for the computer. Have you plugged an amplifier into the booth output to see what it sounds like? (If you don't have an amp handy, you can try your computer speakers, which have an amp built-in.) Your Line to USB interfac...

Re: "Right" loudness levels
The simple answer is that you can normalize the peaks to 0dB which is the digital maximum for most formats. There is a Normalize effect, or there is a preset in the Amplify effect that makes it easy after recording. [quaote]Reverb seems to quiet a piece. Is it best to amplify music after I apply re...

Re: Audacity 2 + IZotop Ozon 5
Audacity can run (some) VST plug-ins, but I really don't know if it runs Ozone... Most of these expensive plug-ins are not tested & de-bugged by the developer/seller for use with free or low-cost software. The Ozone web site says: Plug-in host compatibility: Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, WaveLab, Garag...
