Re: Sound levels

There is a Leveler effect that might help. You can also try some dynamic compression (Compressor effect). Or, there is an Envelope Tool that allows you to adjust & fade-up & down the volume in different parts of your file.

Re: Adding jpg,png,..etc images to a mp3 file???

I use Mp3Tag (FREE!!!) for adding "album artwork" and for adding/editing ID3 tags (title, artist, album information, etc.). I've never tried a PNG image, but most players & player software will display an embedded JPG, and this is the most-standardized way to do it. Some player software (such as Win...

Re: Stereo Mix is Not Working

Exporting should work... There's no need to "record" digital audio that already exists in Audacity or is otherwise on your computer in memory or on your hard drive...

Do you hear the sound when you play it in Audacity?

Re: What type of USB mike would you recommend?

Here are some USB studio condenser mics. As long as you avoid cheap "gaming" or "communications" type microphones, you should be OK. I'd suggest spending around $100 USD (or more). USB mics are very convenient, and you'll save a bit of money compared to buying an inexpensive studio condenser plus a...

Re: Wont record from mixer

The line input on most soundcards is reasonably good (unlike most mic inputs)... What's wrong with the sound? Noise? Distortion? Is "fuzzle" distortion? If you're not sure... "noise", such as hum or hiss, is generally a problem with quiet parts of the recording, and the noise is usually masked (cove...

Re: Confused

This stuff can get frustrating.... I would guess that you need to switch the input/recording from your regular soundcard to the USB turntable. This page may help. Can you hear the turntable through your computer? Windows has separate recording & playback "mixers", so you don't always hear exactly wh...

Effect > Normalize, Remove CD, Normalize Independently. He meant to say, "Remove DC Offset." ;) You may not have an offset problem, but it doesn't hurt. And, you only have to normalize once (independantly). Your guitar isn't stereo... Normally, a guitar is one mono channel. Is your POD applying som...

Re: Red lines in Audacity

This can be a bit confusing... There might not be anything "wrong" with your file, and if you didn't create the file yourself, there's nothing you can do about it anyway.* If the file is clipped (has flat-topped distorted waves) and you reduce the volume (by using Amplify or Normalize ), the red wil...

Re: Input Selection For Recording

Not all computers can do that without special software... It depends on your soundcard driver & operating system. If you have the choice of "Stereo Mix" or "What-U-Hear" , those options should work. If you don't have those options (and if they can't be enabled or un-hidden on your system), you may h...

Re: Overdubbing issues

I'm not sure what's going-on here... When you mix, the sound is added/summed, so yes, noise is added for each track. But, the signals are added too.... So when you mix, you have to reduce the overall levels to prevent clipping (distortion) and the net result should be an improved signal-to-noise lev...
