Re: classical music: adding composers
I can't help you directly, but I can tell you that tags (metadata) are tricky because there are many different tagging formats, and different audio formats use different tagging formats/standards. I wouldn't expect an audio editor like Audacity to be the best tool for that. You didn't say what file ...

Re: Help bringing down the audio spikes
Well.... There is a Clip Fix "effect", but you can't completely remove distortion. In fact you can't do that much at all... :( With clipping , the top part of the waveform is chopped-off and there is no way to know the original height or shape of the wave. like into the over 1.0+ area. It probably d...

Re: Feedback During Recording
I then plugged an RCA to stereo cable into the micer output and into the mic in input respectively. The mixer output is line-level. You should connect to a line-input, not a mic input (color-coded blue on most soundcards). If you have a laptop with only mic-in and headphone-out, the Behringer UCA 2...

Re: Record Microphone And All System Sounds
You'll lhave to select "Stereo Mix. "Wave Out", or "What-U-Hear" to record what's going to the computer's speakers, and then make sure the mic input is selected (and turned-up) in the windows playback mixer (so you can hear the mic through the speakers/headphones). Technically, you can only record o...

The other teacher thought it was a bit too complicated to require that the students divide the number of samples by 44100... :D :D That must be one of our public school teachers here in California! You don't need to understand the details of the math or science as long as you feel good about yourse...

Re: Connection Problems
Recording Device – No Device Found Windows says there are no recording inputs... It thinks there is no line-in and no mic-in... You either have a driver problem or a Windows configuration problem. You may have to "enable" the inputs (I have no clue how to do that in Win 8), or check for driver upda...

Re: Adding a track break
so that I can copy it onto a dvd later. I want to be able to put a break between each track so that I can skip through each individual song with my cd player. FYI - A DVD will not play in a regular audio CD player... However, most DVD players can play audio CDs. So... Where do you plan on playing t...

Re: Newbie needs help
We use basic Tascam studio recorder... Is it stereo or multi-track? What kind of instruments/music? What kind of microphones? How are the acoustics where you are recording? ...but we are hoping Audacity could really help clean up the recordings. That really depends on what's wrong. There's really n...

Re: Trouble opening MP3 file into Audacity to edit it
Are you sure it's MP3? Can you play the file in Windows Media player? Audacity uses the Microsoft supplied MP3 decoder to open MP3s, and normally that "just works". If it's a different format, you might need the optional FFMPEG library from this page . In order to save (export) in MP3 fromat, you ne...
