Re: Annoying Pop sound between 2 tracks

A crossfade will probably fix it, no matter what the cause. The crossfade can be very short (several milliseconds) if you don't what to hear it as a crossfade. It could be caused by a DC offset (usually the result of a hardware problem) or it could be from not cutting on a zero crossing .

Re: no sound

This might be obvious but did you select the USB mixer as your Recording Device?

Are you the LEDs on the mixer showing a signal? Are you getting anything out of the analog or headphone outputs?

Re: Sound not crystal clear - tinny

I've changed the reverb settings What setting is that? Audacity doesn't apply effects in real time, but Windows can. Reverb is more for singing/music than talking and of course you should only use it if you want the effect... Make sure you've selected the USN mic as your Recording Device and scratc...

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

This is a podcast In that case you don't have meet the audiobook specs and you can limit to 0dB instead of-3dB. My goal when using loudness normalization is getting the loudness up to -16 lufs, which from what I understand is an industry standard. YouTube, and some of the other streaming services a...

Re: Audio cut off after Loudness Normalization

below is what I am left with - the audio appears chopped off for several tracks. Are you talking about the wave height? That's the result of limiting. The ACX audiobook requirement is a peak of -3dB (about 75%). It's normal that you would need limiting to meet that spec after normalizing, which usu...

Re: metadate? unreliable way to store track info?

yes, that is exactly the problem. too many standards, and then claims by one program that the other isn't following standards. Most media players & tag editors actually do a pretty good job of complying with the standards. I haven't used Media Monkey but I assume it does a good job with multiple fo...

Re: Amplify - is it "auto"?

Audacity has pre-scanned your file and Amplify will default to whatever up or down adjustment is needed for normalized ("maximized") 0dB peaks. You don't have to accept the default and you can enter a positive or negative number. You can go over 0dB if you allow clipping, and Audacity itself won't a...

Re: Recording settings problem

Windows only allows you to record from one thing at a time. But, it will allow you to play more than one thing at a time so if you configure Windows to play the microphone through the speakers, WASAPI loopback can be used to record everything you're hearing. (Headphones are better for preventing fee...

Re: Removing an effect after adding it

You didn't save your original recording? :( No, you can't remove reverb. You can't reverse most effects after you've saved/exported.

...There are 3re party "de-verb" plug-ins but I assume you get unwanted side-effects.
