Re: Help documentation edit suggestion
The other reasons for using floats in that section seem valid to me, and sufficient enough to justify using floats. So I am not at all suggesting the default should be integers, I doubt it would make a noticeable difference performance-wise for computers anyway. But it struck me as less then correc...

Re: Plugins not Installing "Could not Load Library"
It's a 64-bit plug-in and it won't work on Audacity for Windows which is a 32-bit application. And, Audacity is not on the supported host list.

Re: Audacity not recognising soundcards
Audacity is not detecting either of them at present Does that mean they are not showing-up as recording or playback devices? Or, your just not getting sound in or out? Do they show-up in the Windows control panel? Steinberg UR824 If you want to do multitrack recording, a lot of people have trouble ...

Re: Very low recording volume
-30dB is unusually low, but it depends on how loud the sound is and how close the sound-source is to the mic. And, the "adapter cord" might not have enough gain. And, dynamic mics like the Beta58 tend to have low output compared to condenser mics. For best results you might need an audio interface w...

Re: How to edit mp3 file without exporting/re-encoding?
Audacity (and all "regular" audio editors) decompress the file when you open it. The original file isn't touched but if you re-export as MP3 you are going through another generation of lossy compression. mp3DirectCut can do some basic editing without decompressing the file. which exporting to either...

Re: 9997 Invalid sample rate on WASAPI only
That's weird but my GUESS is that it's not REALLY a sample rate problem. But if Direct Sound and MME work, I'd recommend using something that works. ;) There shouldn't be a difference in sound quality. Sound quality mostly depends on the acoustic & analog side of things (assuming you don't use a "lo...

Re: Hard Limiter
Actually, the current "Hard Limiter" option does not distort the waveform (But of course it can "distort" the overall sound if over-done). The "Hard Clip" and "Soft Clip" options will change the wave shape like a regular-old analog limiter.Hard Limiter is a distortion effect

Re: Hard Limiter
the hard limiter doesnt work at all, and i seem to activate the limiter aswell. Are you saying that the effect window doesn't open-up, or that it appears to be working but nothing happens to the sound/waveform when you apply the effect? ...It's hard to believe the Limiter Effect built-into Audacity...
