Re: Noise on optical recording

I have a similar query with regard to noise You've got a different issue... You've got an analog problem - Noise is almost always an analog (or acoustic) problem. It could be AC power line hum or a vibration from the motor. Phono cartridges are sensitive to electromagnetic pick-up as well as mechan...

Re: Noise on optical recording

As a practical matter, digital-to-analog-to-digital conversion is usually transparent so an interface with line inputs (such as the UCA 202) should be fine. If fact it should be better, given the problems you're having. ;) But before you go that way... Are you sure the Toslink output is OK? Do you h...

Re: Guaranteed High Frequency Sound Card With IN and OUT

There might be a "data acquisition" card/interface that can do that but probably not at a low price. You might just get lucky or there are some high sample rate "audiophile" DACs and you can probably find one that goes up to 384kHz (sample rate) but they are meant for audio so the audio might be fil...

Re: Audacity wont recognize usb or bt mixer

Does it show-up as a Recording Device?

If not, right-click the Windows Speaker/Volume icon, select Open Sound Settings, and check if Windows is finding it as in Input Device, and make sure it's enabled.

Re: fix muddy bass track

Try experimenting with the Graphinc Equalizer . Mostly, you'll just have to experiment ( with the "preview"). But maybe start by cutting the frequencies below 40Hz as much as possible. The lowest note on a standard electric bass is about 40Hz and anything lower is noise/garbage. You may also need to...

Re: DBX II NR decoder (expander)

I recently bought one of those inexpensive audio cassette players/records to make mix tape on as a hobby like I did back in the 90s. Needless to say the sound quality isn't great by any measure
If you want good quality, why not keep it digital? :P

Re: DJ Mix Labels

That's a problem. The "shiny disc" formats allow for track or chapter markers but most "computer file" formats don't. You can burn a CD from one continuous file and put the markers wherever you want using a cue sheet. I think VLC allows you to play a file from an associated cue sheet so you might lo...

Re: Frequency sweep

Try increasing the Project Rate (sample rate) in the lower left of the Audacity window. As you may know, the "Nyquist limit" is half the sample rate (at least one sample for the top-half of the wave and one for the bottom-half). ...If you are going to play the file out of your soundcard, some soundc...

Re: Win10, 2.4.2 Mic Levels/clipping

Yes, I did try that. Had it down to 10%, I could hardly hear it. Did that make ANY difference in the recording level or clipping? Sometimes it's the original streaming audio that's clipped. You might try a different website. YouTube, Spotify, and all of the popular streaming websites use volume mat...

Re: Win10, 2.4.2 Mic Levels/clipping

Try turning down your Windows playback volume.

The recording volume control usually doesn't do anything with "loopback". You are "capturing" the digital audio data before it goes to the soundcard.
