Re: How to make Audacity playback sound volume equal to sound volume of WAV/MP3 file when exporting?
There are some "enhancements" in WMP that can change the volume, such as an equalizer or volume leveling. If you want to "match volumes" you should probably open both (or all) of the files in Audacity. Or there are tools like ReplayGain, MP3Gain, WAVgain, etc., that will automatically match the loud...

Re: How to make Audacity playback sound volume equal to sound volume of WAV/MP3 file when exporting?
Thanks @DvDbug but is there no way to make the WAV file exports have same loudness/volume/etc as the Audacity project I exported it from? To prevent spam, new forum members posts have to approved by a human moderator before they show-up. What I'm trying to say is why does Audacity play my audio tra...

Re: How to make Audacity playback sound volume equal to sound volume of WAV/MP3 file when exporting?
I'm using Windows 10 player at highest volume My playback volume in Audacity is .50 (middle of the tracker exactly) I think the maximum would be the same in both applications. (VLC can go over 100% so you can clip/distort files normalized for 0dB peaks.) Audacity has Loudness Normalization if you w...

Re: Removing camera sound / better noise reduction
without having to take new videos? In Hollywood, they just re-record the audio while lip-syncing to the video. ;) All on-location movie dialog is re-recorded in the studio. :( There's only so-much you can do with processing... That's why pros still record in soundproof studios with good mic positio...

Re: Cannot open file; FFMPEG libraries discovered
Can you play the file? (With Windows Media Player, etc.?) If you can play the file you can record it while it's playing. Or if VLC can play it, there's a way to extract the audio with VLC (and optionally save it in a different format) but I've never tried it. If you can't play it, maybe it is corrup...

Re: cannot create digital file
hit record and see and hear recording but when i stop recording and go to see a file i don't see anything there. Can you play it from Audacity? (You will have to select a valid playback device, like your soundcard/speakers.) When ever i stop the recording shouldn't a new file be created? Not automa...

Re: Getting precise dB level from Playback meter reading
RMS is a kind of average and it correlates better with perceived loudness than the peak levels. (The regular average is zero because the waveform is negative half of the time.) Our ears don't hear occasional short-duration peaks as loud as loudly as multiple-sustained peaks. Generally, it's the peak...

Re: Getting precise dB level from Playback meter reading
If you run the Amplify effect it will "indirectly" give you the peak. Audacity has already scanned your file and Amplify will default to whatever gain (or attenuation) is needed for normalized/maximized 0dB peaks. i.e. If Amplify defaults to +3dB, your current peak is -3dB. ACX Check will give you t...

Re: Exporting a file when I have finished editing it with Audacity
What I don't know is if I need to delete the original audio file from iTunes before I export my edited and improved copy of the audio file. You can delete the old file from the iTunes library. ...I think you just right-click it in iTunes and then hit the delete key. That just removes it from iTunes...

Re: Not playing clipped files properly
Then, why are you boosting by +36dB?I meant I didn't want clipping and white noise, I want "clean" mp3.
