those web sites should do it for you. They have pictures and descriptions of what to do. Unfortunately, they don't help. The only options I have by going that route are Line in and Microphone Properties.jpg Something wonky has happened to prevent this sound card from offering stereo mix. It's an on...

Audacity contains no sound device drivers I wasn't saying that. What I mean is that I am still using Audacity in conjunction with the same sound card (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio) with the same operating system (Win XP) as I did before the crash. Recording input - "stereo mix" now gone

I realise this is one of the common problems in the FAQ, but this is odd: I recently had a hard drive crash, replaced the HDD and reloaded all programs, including Audacity (1.2). Before the crash, Audacity worked perfectly and I could record from all expected inputs (mic, line in, stereo mix, etc.)....
