Re: Two different mono channels in 1 track

First make darn sure you have a good file of your original work. I would probably export as WAV in addition to the Project. Then you can use the tools under the little black arrow on the left. Split Stereo Track > Delete one track. Edit > Duplicate > Make Stereo Track. Export as WAV or save a new, ...

Two different mono channels in 1 track

I created an .aup project that is one track of two +++different+++ mono recordings--one on the L channel and one on the right. How best to cut one channel and append (paste) to the end of the other? And, then how to make that mono channel appear on both L and R channels so I have the same mono signa...

Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together

Thank you Ignatz, I am not using wav files at all. Just .aup and .flac . I am trying to be practical and just make sure I get these tapes digitized. Balance is not a big issue, as I will be moving around in the sound field. As for some tracks being louder than others, I'll live with it. On another i...

volume

I get it Koz. Thank you. I thought that being log rhythmic, 1 dB would be 1/2--which "sounds" like a lot, but, as you say, our ears work in strange ways. I think I can live with unequal tracks. My goal is just to get these damn reels of tape digitized. If one or two of them are way out of whack, I c...

Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together

<<<But, how do I call it up? It is not listed in the Audacity effects?>>> Yes, this wasn't the most straightforward. I think he called it "Compress Dynamics." It should be at the bottom of the effects list. We poked fun at him about this. "You know," we said, "everybody calls this Chris's Compresso...

Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together

Here are 2 waveforms from my collection: Top is a 1930s Hawaiian instrumental. Bottom is a 1980s pop/country recording. Both have the same "amplify" value, which is -2 in the bottom box (peak amplitude). I recently made a CD containing both songs as an experiment. Bottom is a LOT louder than top. I...

Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together

I downloaded the plug in and it is in the Audacity plugin folder as compress.ny . But, how do I call it up? It is not listed in the Audacity effects?

Re: Amplify settings (2) are always locked together

Thanks Koz, I am not sure that "flat" is what I want. Sounds insipid. I do like to crank up my outdoor sound system and rock out while I work outdoors. I am isolated in my own little valley here in Santa Cruz, so can really go for it. It is background music in that I am not sitting between two stere...
