Re: Noise Removal settings and useage
Ignatz: I think your absolutely right about "trusting your ears". In the last question of my original post, I joked some about the fact that I am a bit hard of hearing. So I may not hear incremental improvements from a technical level. I'm not a sound engineer, and the results of my work are for my ...

Re: Noise Removal settings and useage
stevethefiddle: Thanks for your suggestions. With a great deal of digging in the Windows and Realtac software, I finally got Audacity to see the Behringer preamp. This is what Audacity sees: AudAudioInfo.JPG I've disconnected the Behringer preamp output to the "line-in" for the computer sound card a...

Re: Noise Removal settings and useage
stevethefiddle: Thanks for your reply. Regarding the Behringer preamp. I have a Hauppage WinTV tuner card hooked up via USB (no other option available to me) and the computer sound card is integrated . Audacity does not see the Behringer. It only sees the mono TV tuner card. I've spent a lot of time...

Noise Removal settings and useage
I am "digitizing" my collection of old (45-55year old) vinyl LPs, so I can burn CDs of these albums for easier listening on a high quality sound system. Attached is a "Noise Sample" recorded by Audacity, and exported, with out any effects applied, which I would call "line noise". It is present whene...

Re: Click Removal Tool
I wanted to report that I am currecntly working on a LP jazz album (Chico Hamilton Quintet featuring Buddy Collette) from 1955 and the "Click Removal Tool", in Audacity, is working wonders! My current setting for this album is: Threshold set at 175 and Spike Width set at 20.

Re: Click Removal Tool
Thanks ignatz. I'll take a look at the gizmo. I've got plenty of USB (v2) ports. I've already ordered the cables to do the job and also really cheap.

Re: Click Removal Tool
WC - Thanks for the advice regarding backups. Actually, I have a couple of computers with rather large hard drives and I am backing up the Audacity files themselves. I will run out of room eventually but no current worries. I am not aware of the USB 1TB external data disks, but will certainly look i...

Re: Click Removal Tool
Thanks ignatz and WC for your efforts. Again, the Audacity "Repair" tool did a wonderful job and will probably be acceptable for all practical purposes. I guess I expected too much from the "Click Removal" tool. This is a learning process for me and I'm not expecting "professional" or "commercial" q...

Re: Click Removal Tool
Yes, WC, I select a portion of the track that has the clicks. BTW, I tried the "Repair" tool and it's works great. Thanks for the tip.
I'm also going to try to upload the .wav file (under 1MB).
