Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks

I see this gets to be a conundrum. I suggest another way to avoid at least one of the issues I'm having: Add "Save compressed copy of project as " to the file menu. That avoids the split personality issue of the original version's .aup file toggling between compressed file references and .au file re...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks

When you save the project again, it is the current audio data (the uncompressed audio data) in the project that is saved. I understand that when saving a Compressed Project, Audacity is compressing its current audio data regardless of its original source, but what I'm saying is that if a track's au...

Noise Removal enhancement

I'd like to see a control added to the Noise Removal effect. This effect does a fantastic job for most purposes and is a huge improvement over 1.2.6, but I've encountered a situation in which violating the instructions a bit yields a worthwhile improvement. The situation was: The only significant no...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks

Actually the thumb I use for this currently has a couple of uncompressed projects taking up most of it. I only compress the less critical ones (i.e. those that will wind up as MP3's). I apply effects (noise removal, filtering, volume compression etc.) before making a compressed copy. Thanks for the ...

Re: Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks

I use compressed to squeeze several church services onto a thumb drive 'cause my laptop is getting full. Since I'm exporting MP3's anyway for this I don't think the loss in the ogg will amount to much. Also there are parts I don't export for the podcast and I want to keep the projects around for a f...

Why re-compress unchanged audio tracks

I often save a compressed project to work on later, eventually doing Export Multiple to MP3. Typically all I do in these projects is filtering or noise removal and then add or edit a label track. When I re-save it as a compressed project, it updates all the audio tracks. They 'always' get smaller, s...

Re: Editing MP3 tags

Please include me as a user who finds editing the export tags rather cumbersome. With Export Multiple, I typically want to re-use most of the tag data but if I save it I can only recall the whole tag. So I wind up copying the name, recalling my saved tag, pasting the name back and patching the track...

There's a caveat for that: Clicking anywhere on the Record Level meter will reset the Peak and Overload indicators. It also toggles Source Monitoring on/off if you're not in Record mode. ;)

Re: Strange Carrier Waves

Great, we've eliminated the AC adapter as the noise source. This leaves RF pickup. Note that the bottom of the low frequency waves is pretty close to 0v. The wiggle could be rectification of an RF signal that's amplitude modulated at that low frequency, e.g. a signal from a moving vehicle being rece...
