Thanks for the advice. The Citronic device had no drivers, but they were not needed, I haven't been back to the set-up where it showed MME, but on the toolbar it now shows USB Audio CODEC and in fact it is now working. I don't know what I did to start it. All seems sto be be fine except the humming ...

More info. Although the preferences-Devices-Host show MME, the actual programme shows Core Audio, but I can't get any recording done. A previous post I saw suggested reducing from 32 bit to 16 bit. Devices-Host. MME only is shown. Should be Core Audio
I have just bought for my Mini Mac, Citronic AC-1USB (Mac & PC compatible) and downloaded Audacity 1.3.12 for Mac users. But in setting preferences - Device - Host, only MME (which is for PC) will show, whereas it should be Core Audio. How can I access Core Audio? Thanks in advance.
