So there isn't a setting that turns the Audacity recorder off after it has ran with a certain amount of time of blank sound? Or is that what you are telling me?
Thanks,
mix

Re: 1.3.5 will not capture audio from line-in
What version is 1.3 beta unicode? I can only find that it is some version of 1.3 beta but no other numbers to indicate the edition.

Re: Defining Songs.
WC, Thanks for all your advice & that tool you recommend 'ClickRepair', will probably be the first tool I buy. I appreciate the advice. I'll dig through the tutorials; there is a couple of other items I hope to find. Is there a thread that instructs how to use the Audacity recorder in the manner in...

Re: 1.3 Questions
Maybe a WAV project file can be made up in the 1.2 format then when the 1.3 is opened, the WAV project from the previous 1.2 can be opened in the 1.3?. I would try converting the project to a WAV file & saving it from the 1.2. Then when opened in the 1.3, see if it will open that WAV project?

Re: Defining Songs.
While you are still working on the project, "Save" it as an Audacity project. (Exporting as a WAV file is a good way to make backups). When you have finished, you will want to create a series of WAV files - one file for each track. These files can then be played individually, imported into iTunes, ...

Re: Defining Songs.
Steve, I am clumsily getting to mark tracks via "silence finder". Now the issue is saving the work so the tabs remain attached. I keep trying to save the work or project but a box comes out & directs me to export because I've created a file that only Audacity can open. When I create the WAV file to...

Re: Defining Songs.
I followed the one tutorial: 'Splitting a recording into separate tracks' from the Audacity site. Was that this tutorial? http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks That tutorial was written using Audacity 1.2, so there will be some minor differences with Audacity 1...

Defining Songs.
I've been through the tutorials on the Audacity main page; thanks for them but I am stumped. I am converting about 200 cassette tapes & about 20-30 hours of reel to reel. What I want to do is divide the individual songs so I can title each track. What is the easiest manner to accomplish this task? ...

Re: Which version should I use?
... My plan is to use as few of steps possible to get from magnetic tape to iPod. If I have to burn CDs, I think it is a wasted step... A good plan :) Actually I only normally burn the CDs if I think I also want to play the music on my CD deck on my hi-fi system. I can connect my iPod (or my laptap...

Re: Which version should I use?
... What I have is about 200 albums on cassette tapes that I either want to go to my MP3(iPOD Nano) or to the computer if I would get better sound quality? ... For cassette conversion of tapes/LPs the updated features of 1.3.12 will make life a lot easier for you - particularly the labelling functi...
