Re: 1.2.6 vs. 1.3.4
I'll repeat my offer and the reason for it. One of the Audacity team, feeling 1.3.4 had come to age and was very stable, suggested I consider switching to it. (See "Sliding Tracks Around"). I did so in Vista Home Premium, and found great instability. I offered to run a test or two, if that would hel...

1.2.6 vs. 1.3.4
This is a report, then a question. I was working stably on 1.2.6, and was encouraged to try 1.3.4. I'm on Vista Home Premium. I've had many crashes since. One thing I can't do at all on 1.3.4, and that is convert a stereo track (which plays) to a mono track (it then crashes). I use "Tracks--Stereo t...

Re: File and Folder Structure
OK: here's the results of the testing. If you want to move your audacity files and folders somewhere else, either to another place on your computer or to an external hard drive for storage (I didn't try burning to a DVD), here's at least one way it will work. For any given audacity project, copy eve...

Re: Sliding tracks around
OK: Sorry about the subject jumping. I'm assuming from what you've just said that, given the fact I've already begun my project on 1.2.6, that I can merely now install 1.3.x and open my latest aup file in it1.3.x, work with it there, and that the next time I save the project it will then be saved in...

Re Sliding tracks
OK let's get more specific. Here's what I do. I drag the cursor from the beginning of one track down through the tracks below it, to the end of the last track I want to move. (Or I shift click two or more tracks I want to link (clicking on the left most part, where it says mute etc. I then take the ...

Re: File and Folder Structure
Taking the last, first: yes I will. I'll experiment a bit and see what I can learn about moving things. I may be a little too novice-oid to read and understand such wordpads, but I'll try...I gather that if there are no strings of directories, there's no problem. I'll see if that's true. I appreciat...

Re: File and Folder Structure
It does sound daunting. Well, one thing I"ve done is to save my *.aup, and then export as a Wav or MP3 file. Then if all goes south, I've still got all the pieces strung together as a whole (Maybe that's what your last post said; I wasn't sure). And then they could be split apart in one place or ano...

Sorry: I'm writing again, just so I get email notification; I forgot to check that.

File and Folder Structure
Just to be sure I don't make a bad mistake. Am I to understand that if I were to change the name or location of any folder containing and proximal to the *.aup file I"m working on, that it will no longer function, (without correcting the problem, which could be difficult)? And a related question: wh...

Re: Sliding tracks around
"Should be able..." but can't. I select two tracks, for example, then use that tool, and only one of the tracks slides?? They won't link together for me. 1.2.6
