Re: Recording new track overdubs existing tracks [SOLVED]
You were right, Koz. I had my Audacity Input Device set to "What U Hear," so Audacity was recording everything it heard. My normal Input Device for Audacity is "Line-In 2/Mic 2." As soon as I switched to the Line-In input, my existing Audacity tracks were no longer recording to my new track. Thanks ...

Recording new track overdubs existing tracks [SOLVED]
Windows XP, Audacity 2.0.3, I think I used the .exe installer Suddenly when I record a new track, the existing tracks are being recorded onto the new track as well. This has never happened to me before. I checked the Recording Preferences under the Edit menu and saw that the "Overdub: Play other tra...

Re: Moving tracks up/down - specifying how far
Thank you, Steve. That's a good start. I hope we'll eventually be able to specify exactly how far to move the track. With 30 tracks, it's still pretty slow to move it up 10 slots, one at at time.

Moving tracks up/down - specifying how far
I'm using Audacity 2.0.3, so I don't know if this has already been implemented. I'm using Windows XP, SP3. I usually have a lot of tracks (25-40) and I move them around a lot. Would it be possible for the "Move Track Up" and "Move Track Down" commands to let you specify how far to move the track (e....

Track Name field - would be helpful if longer
I'm using Audacity 2.0.3, so I don't know if this has already been implemented. I'm using Windows XP, SP3. It would be very helpful if the Track Name field were longer. I usually have a lot of tracks (25-40) with different versions of each one, and the few characters permitted in a Track Name make i...

Re: Accidentally changed track display -- how do I get it ba
Gale, Yes, I know all about the risks of XP at this point. The XP computer I use for Audacity is not connected to the Internet. I fully expected to have a new machine by this time but just haven't gotten it done. I may be switching to Mac. I have an old Power Mac 9600 that I use for Cubase, which is...

Re: Accidentally changed track display -- how do I get it ba
Well, Koz, that's exactly what happened. But I'm glad it did because I didn't know anything about the envelope tool. For a long time I've been wanting a way to change the volume within a track. The only volume control I knew about was the Gain slider at the track start. I've always had a duplicate c...
