I really need to get a sound card with at least 2 inputs.
My budget is in the $80 -$140 range, but I'm willing to consider anything. I really have no clue on this -- if anyone has any recommendations, even very general ones, I'd surely appreciate it!
Thank you,
guapo

Re: Sound card (or mixer?) recommendation (two inputs requir
Sounds good -- thanks again for the advice, guys.
Anyone want to weigh in on the cheapest option for a sound card with at least 2, ideally 4 inputs?

Re: Sound card (or mixer?) recommendation (two inputs requir
 Ah, I was kind of foolish not to think of that method of importing and then stopping to align. Very good idea. Thanks very much! And I won't tell you what headset I'm using. Thanks again! :D EDIT: Is there any way to continue recording on the same track once I click stop and then click...

Re: Sound card (or mixer?) recommendation (two inputs requir
There is no "What You Hear" or "Stereo Mix" for me anywhere, unfortunately. :( A google search reveals that it's a common problem. This is the common suggestion to solve the problem: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/01/15/how-to-enable-wave-out-recording-in-vista/ As you can see from other comments...

Re: Sound card (or mixer?) recommendation (two inputs requir
Thanks very much for the information stevethefiddle! :) I would like clarification on one issue, however. What would I need to do in order to record the two mic tracks AND a track of sound effects played directly from my computer? I know that you said I'd need a sound card with several inputs, but t...

Sound card (or mixer?) recommendation (two inputs required)
Hello all. I am looking for a recommendation for some equipment -- and answers to several questions. Sorry, but I figured might as well pollute my one post with all this than make several posts all over the place and pollute the whole board. Here is the situation: I am making a podcast with two peop...

Re: Two microphones at once?
Thank you for the feedback, kozikowski. Your suggestion is that my life would be a lot easier if I just get a production mixer? Not to beat a dead horse's already pummeled corpse, this would make it relatively easy for me to have two mics and throw in sound effects played from files on the fly as we...

Re: Two microphones at once?
Sounds like I won't be able to play the sounds as I am recording. The idea was to record a podcast with two people and insert sound effects and music as we go by just clicking on a file when we want it inserted and have audacity record it on a separate track when that happens. Since that can't be do...

Re: Two microphones at once?
Thank you again for your help. Because my sound card doesn't have "Stereo Mix" -- a common problem with Vista computers, I'm discovering -- I don't have this mixer. I wonder if this is an issue that may be fixed with future Vista drivers. No matter as I will likely be rid of this card by the time an...

Re: Two microphones at once?
Thank you for the link -- I will definitely check it out. I have another question that shows my ignorance. Does "What U Hear" or "Stereo Mix" sound come from that same source? In other words, can I record a mic input and a .wav file played w/ WMP at the same time on separate tracks? I as unsuccessfu...
