I am using a new elliptical stylus. I clean my records with water + isopropyl and a tiny drop of washing up liquid and use a cleani...

ADC /PreAmp

Hi,

I'm using Audacity to rip all my vinyl and have been using Pro-ject USB V pre-amp/dac. Although it's an excellent device i would prefer to achieve a higher sampling rate of 16bit 48k.

Can anyone recommend the best preamp / adc that will sample at 24bit? I'm using a Audio Technica AT95E Cart...

Saving File without Encoding

Hi,

I have imported an MP3 file into Audacity and i have edited it slightly. I would like to save it without re-encoding it. Is this possible? When i export it, audacity seems to want to re-encode the audio file.

Otherwise, does anyone know a program that will let me do this?

Re: Recording Volume

Excellent advise!! Thank you very much. I have done what you said. I am recording at 32bit 48K and i will eventually convert to flac. Increasing the gain on my amp and decreasing the microphone input on Audacity seems to solve the 2 channels being too much out of balance. There is one other question...

Re: Recording Volume

I'm using just one pre-amp. It's a Pro-ject Phono USB V. I thought they were one of the best pre-amps?

Re: Recording Volume

@stevethefiddle "When you amplify with what?" I have a gain control on my pre-amp... If i turn it so that there is hardly any gain, then my left & right channel record and play at quite substantially different levels. According to Audacity, my left channel is louder. However, if i turn down the "inp...
