Re: Showing metadata in WAV files

How can I get Windows to display the metadata I enter into .wav files? This is Windows-specific so I started a new topic in the Windows board for you. Assuming you are using the latest Audacity 2.0.6 from http://audacityteam.org/download/windows then the seven standard tags always listed in Audacit...

Re: Suggestion (Bandpass Filter and Custom FFT Filter)

Sorry, but I can't reply to the topic "Spectral Editing" on the Audacity Mailing list. I don't have an account there. That's why I've posted it on Devel in the first place. Robert, you can subscribe to the -quality list (if you want to) here: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/a...

Re: Audacity won't record guitar via Focusrite solo

I have sussed it. Yes, you just beat me to typing the answer. ;) There must be some kind of bridge between the 2 inputs on the Focusrite solo device so that Audacity cannot recognise them as seperate channels. Audacity sees the two mono inputs of the device as a stereo pair. It is possible if Audac...

Re: Audacity won't record guitar via Focusrite solo

The transport record bar is moving but the signal is flatlining (i.e just a straight line recording). When I use the microphone input on the Focusrite - no problem with Audacity recording the signal. For some reason, Audacity just can't record/recognise this 2nd input channel on the Focusrite Solo ...

Re: Volume Leveling

I believe Chains will automatically create a new folder. The exported file will be in a "Cleaned" folder in the folder the original files were in. In almost all cases the original file will not be overwritten. The other case is probably a bug. I don't know that Chains will run over format...

Re: Volume Leveling

You could get close with the Amplify effect and Chains. You can set Amplify so whatever you started with, the peak sound will finish at a certain level. You would be better to use Normalize in the Chain. The Chain parameters for Amplify store the amplification to be applied, so if the files to be t...

Re: Monitoring live input while recording

Thanks for the reply!! I was able to get live microphone playback ( mic for test only - I'll be running a PODLive directly in when recording) playback by turning on "software playthrough" in the "Transport" menu. Unfortunately I'm now facing the half-second latency issue, which ...

Re: Redacting audio with Audacity - Is it possible to revers

Does anyone know if the redaction could then be reversed from the exported audio? For example, is there a way to 'unmask' the audio that was redacted? I think it is possible to scramble the audio samples in such a way that the words are unrecognisable and unscramble them with a plugin that reverses...

Re: Audacity won't record guitar via Focusrite solo

What exactly are the symptoms of the recording failure? If it's error opening device, you may need to use Windows DirectSound host instead of MME in Audacity, and perhaps match Audacity project rate with the Windows and/or Focusrite sample rates.
