Re: Effects don't show up?
And still no fix, any ideas anyone? Sorry, but we are not able to see your computer. Can you give a specific example (with download address) of a plugin that won't load in the Effect Menu? As I said, Audacity will not load VST instruments or VST 3 plugins. If that is what you have, they will appear...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
What do you want from "poor man's scrubbing" that is not available in the enhanced seek behaviour Modifier keys/behaviours to toggle modifying selections or not and to toggle setting down at stop position or not. Not modifying selections at all is not the answer, it's merely better than r...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
Removing features is always a regression for someone. As waxcylinder says, there is no suggestion of removing the Quick Play feature. I am suggesting that we improve it by making it more visible (I've already added a Tool Tip when the mouse is over the Time Line), adding functionality (a full featu...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
I'm opposed to removing the feature until there is a better way than Timeline play to play from a spot in one step. I'm interested in a better way to play from a spot. In fact I'd also like to be able to play AT a specific spot with an effective scrub / jog feature. Would I have your support (in pr...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
But surely Gale from the usage you are describing, both click in the Timeline and Ctrl+click in the waveform (et al.) are for you, just a "poor-man's scrubbing" - functionality that we will address with much greater utility and precision when we get around after 2.1.0 to working on Paul L...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
I've not looked at this behaviour much in detail because until very recently I was unaware that it existed, (as I think was the case for most of the other QA folk) That was not the case for me, but understandable given there is no signposting for the feature. This one is a definite bug: Ctrl+Click ...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
It's also somewhat odd that you can't Ctrl+click in the Timeline to start a Quick-Play That is because we use CTRL-click on the Play button to cut preview a region (which we try to indicate by that "hole" in the middle of the Play button icon when you hold CTRL). So by analogy, if you hol...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
4) If you need to click on the exact point on the waveform, which is the benefit that Gale ascribes to Ctrl+click (hard to do when zoomed in as the waveform moves too fast - and fairly useless when zoomed out due the loss of granularity at those zoom levels) then it is quite easy to click and the p...

Re: File upload limits
I think if we substantially raised the upload limit we would have to deny downloads to "guests" (those who were logged out). I don't see that as a big restriction though, it's fairly normal online these days.

Re: Dictating speed and playback speed
I transcribe dictation. A dictation speed of let's say 90+ word per minute. I searching for a reliable way to playback (playback speed) at maybe 45 words per minute. Please see the pink panel at the top of the page and give us the information about operating system and version of Audacity. In Audac...
