Re: How to record skype calls on audacity
Don't, because Audacity is not intended to record Skype. At best you will get both sides of the call mixed into both channels, and at worst you won't be able to get the other side at the correct volume or there will be volume fluctuations when they speak. Try these applications that are meant for re...

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time
I'm preparing an audio-CD. When I use Audacity to prepare the tracks, the time at the end of the final track is 76min38s. I assume this should fit onto an 80min/700MB CD-R. When I export the files for CD burning, the run time of the tracks adds up to that same amount of time. However, the size of t...

Re: CD file size doesn't match program time
In addition to comments from DVDdoug, there is a difference between "data capacity" (number of bytes of data that can be stored) and "audio capacity" (number of minutes+seconds of audio that can be stored), due to audio CDs using some of the available space for the table of cont...

Re: I deleted my entire audio file.
Windows doesn't immediately overwrite newly "vacated" disk space. Just to note that trick whereby a deleted audio file is not deleted but only marked as available for overwriting only works on magnetic drives. If it's a solid state drive and the TRIM command is turned on as it should be a...

Re: Bad High DPI behaviour on Desktop - Surface Pro 3 Win 8.
Audacity is not properly DPI aware nor properly tweaked for high resolution/high pixel density screens. We still officially support 1024x768. I don't know a great deal about this, but do I presume you have enabled "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings” on the "Compatibility" t...

Re: unable to record streamed music
I cannot see in the tutorial that WASAPI is not part of 2.0.2 How it works is that if you get the EXE installer for your version of Audacity, you will have a "Help" folder containing the Manual specific to that version of Audacity. You can access that installed Manual from Help > Manual i...

Re: Mic adjustment inoperative when using USB input
In general, a show that was made too loud will not digitize. Each piece of a digital recording assigns a number to the sound. If the show is too loud, the system runs out of numbers. To add fine detail to that, 32-bit float recording hardware can in theory faithfully capture audio above the 0 dB di...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
I've received an off-forum suggestion for something else to check. As far as we are aware, the only place in Windows 8.x to set the recording level for a Blue Snowball microphone is in the Windows Sound Control Panel . However, some microphones (such as the Blue Yeti) there is a third place - a &qu...
