Re: Audacity Won't Launch and/or Record
Is it a new iMac? If so do you know that it still supports 10.6.8? Is this a physical radio recorded using line-in of the Mac? Or using line-in of a USB or Firewire recording device? Or is it web radio, and if so, exactly how are you recording that? If you have Skype running, try turning it off. You...

Re: no sound from external mic
If the system Sound Preferences don't help, try making the Lexicon default input in /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup. And be aware that it is extremely good practice to set sample rates of external devices to the same rate you have in project rate bottom left of Audacity. You must use Audio ...

Re: Audacity Not Recognizing .AUP
There is a permissions error opening the Google docs page. Perhaps you did not share the file or similar. You could attach the AUP file ( http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 ) but if it appears empty in a normal text editor like Notepad then there is nothing you can do. You ...

Re: How to Upgrade to 2.0.4
If you have not already been there, here are the latest updates and drivers for your card: http://www.roland.co.uk/products/octa-capture/downloads/ . 2.0.6 will have a later version of the PortAudio audio I/O "engine" that Audacity uses. You should use 2.0.6 for that reason if nothing else...

Re: audacity not recognizing mics
Try rebooting the computer. If that does not help, try the MME host in Audacity Device Toolbar (or try another host than the one you were using). You can also try turning off Skype. You could also try reinstalling Audacity with the option to reset preferences. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ma...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
If you start the Ctrl+click Quick-Play to the left of the current cursor position the play starts from the Ctrl+click position but stops when it reaches the current cursor position. Similarly if you start the Ctrl+click Quick-Play to the left of a current selection then the play stops at the right-...

Re: it starts playing when i add markers
On the one hand I think it is confusing that we have two different types of "Quick Play" that behave differently. On the other hand, I would expect jog/scrub behaviour to be a lot more different from Timeline Quick Play, to the extent that it is a distinct feature that will not be confuse...

Re: Recovering .aup that suggests importing all the "raw dat
I remember a weird thing happening when I pasted a chunk of audio, where a split was visible in the left channel, but not the right channel, and the program kept shutting down if I would click anywhere near it. Was that a black vertical split line? If so, clicking near those is a known cause of occ...

Re: Warning - Opening old project file
I'm hoping to hang on to this machine until I go Windows 10 (I've always trust the odd numbers and it really is 9). Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users for a year after release of Windows 10. So if you were to upgrade to Windows 7 now (if you can still find a machi...

Re: Static/distortion on recording in Yosemite
Well, this weekend's recording went with out any static so hopefully that is a done deal, BUT after the last recording, before I had saved the file, I clicked the button to display the whole recording on one page width and Audacity crashed. Thankfully upon restart it recovered the files and all was...
