Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

Did you try answering Steve's and my questions? Gale My apologies, Gale, I thought all of the questions had been answered by myself or Koz. Looking back, I'm assuming you mean the questions regarding the microphone. No, it doesn't pre-date 2007. It was bought in 2013. I think that is the only one w...

Re: importing a track to a project creates a blank track

I managed to download FFmpeg and was able to remove the vocal from a video clip. This is the audio only. Axtually what I want is to have the video with no vocal so that I can burn to a cd/dvd for my karaoke. Will I be able to do that? You will have to export the audio from Audacity then use a video...

Re: Upper length bar playback problem

When is Audacity 2.1.0 going to be released? Hopefully in a few weeks. And the version that fixes this? 2.1.0 won't have the fix because it is too close to the release. If and when the fix is committed to the code base, you would be able to try it out by downloading the latest alpha build (if we co...

Re: Utter novice seeks help joining files.

When you say you were able to save the AU and AUF files, was this because they were in Audacity's temporary folder? If you had never edited this recording then it is recoverable with patience (in 1 GB sections) by following http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovering_crashes_manually.html . The ...

Re: Imported Audio=Silent Waveform

It looks like you tried to select: C:UsersAlexAppDataLocalTempaudacity_tempcanicreate (whatever that is), rather than the directory: C:UsersAlexAppDataLocalTempaudacity_temp Assuming you are "Alex" it would usually be better to write to "C:UsersAlexAppDataLocalTempaudacity_temp"...

Re: Audio file mixed up after recovery

after my audio file was corrupted because the battery of my zoom died during the taping, I was able to recover most of the audio content of my SD Card thanks to Audacity. The problem is that the recovered audio is not useful, because it plays about 2 seconds of proper audio than it plays about two ...

Re: Imported Audio=Silent Waveform

Have you tried Edit > Preferences..., choose "Directories" on the left, then set the Audacity temporary directory to a drive that has at least 100 GB of space? It does not need to be that much, but bear in mind that if you import a stereo file that is an hour long, that uses 1.2 GB of disk...

Re: Remove Silence Markers From File While Exporting as a WA

As I run a MacBook Pro, there is no "right click", but I can simultaneously depress the "fn" and "alt" keys prior to clicking on my trackpad. No drop down menu appears, but if I next depress the "delete" key the silence markers disappear. I wonder if that was...
