What are you recording in Audacity - your commentary or the game audio? You can record both in FRAPS. Whichever input you are recording in Audacity, the input level moves if the system slider for that input moves, whether Windows or another application moves the slider. Yes Audacity names the project according to the name of the first imported file - if you import files simultaneously the first file is the first file in alphanumerical order.

The input you should be choosing in Audacity Device Toolbar is the M-Track.

Perhaps you should look in Recording Preferences and make sure Audio to buffer is large enough - the default is 100 milliseconds.

If the patch looks useful it will get added to the Bugzilla ticket. Someone was complaining about this very issue yesterday so it would be good to fix it.
