You could harm your computer if you download Audacity other than from http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows. This is especially true if you download from an advertisement that claims it is what you said (the latest version of Audacity).

Re: Volume questions
I have read a little about changing the volume of wav files. But I'm not getting intelligent results from Audacity. I import the wav file. The I select a portion or all of the file. When I open Amplify I expect the numbers to be related to the current file. But the final results tell me that's not ...

Re: HOW TO CUT PART OF RECORDING + HOW TO INSERT NEW RECORDI
How do I cut a part of the audio I recorded AND THEN how do I record it again and insert it into the part that I originally cut, without it being over the rest of the recording, and without it sounding weird? If you are already in that position with a recording, select either side of the mistake, t...

Re: Fail to replace Audacity.
If you want a version of Audacity that can be run without being installed, get the ZIP version from here: http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ and extract the contents of the zip archive to a location that you have read/write permission. Please also note that "nightly" versions a...

Re: Variable tempo change?
The rule in Audacity is to select the tracks you want to apply an effect to. This applies to Mix and Render too. Unselected tracks won't be modified. After rendering a time track, remove the Time Track, so that it does not affect the reference track. I had seen the below under Time Tracks in the au...

Re: Idiots guide to Audacity
I am able to play and hear music in Windows Media and I am able to hear the Audacity tone .Is it possible the problem is still caused by my inability to locate USB Audio CODEC in the Device Toolbar ? If USB Audio CODEC or similar is not a choice in Device Toolbar, you won't be able to record from o...

Re: Chordino does not remain 'Enabled'
Yes version 1.1 from http://www.isophonics.net/nnls-chroma works in Audacity on Windows 10. If all else fails, exit Audacity and try deleting the pluginregistry.cfg file in Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Audacity\ . If you cannot see that folder, type %appdata% or shell:appdata into the Expl...

Re: Sound clipping whilst recording track/mix within guidanc
I'm simply judging the clipping by how it sounds at the end, where in my instance, it actually skips part of the audio entirely making any mix or recording unusable. As Tim said, clipping is nothing to do with skipping. Can you post a few seconds of audio (WAV or AIFF) that you regard as unusable s...

Re: Unable to record desktop sound
If you have installed that software, check if the number of recording channels in Audacity can be set to 8. That works with some virtual 7.1 surround sound headsets. Maximum seems to be 6. Judging by the soundwaves it did record, but I try to play it back and it throws up the error. You can turn Do...
