Re: Sound Device Setup
This might mean Pulse Audio is broken. Pulse Audio is the system audio mixing device (oversimplifying it). Sometimes installing Pulse Audio Volume Control (pavucontrol) can help, or you may want to reinstall Pulse Audio itself. Open a terminal and type: sudo apt-get install pavucontrol If you need t...

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 damages 2.0.5 but not 2.0.3
Thanks for the report . As you'll know, 2.0.6 requires a later version of FFmpeg than 2.0.5. Audacity has been fixed so that if you run 2.0.6 or later after 2.0.5, the incompatible version of FFmpeg that was configured for 2.0.5 won't cause Audacity to freeze. We can't retrofix 2.0.5, so if you run ...

Re: High speed dubbing from cassette?
I have around 2000 (Two Thousands) tape cassette, I want to make them into mp3 or any digital form to listen from pc. Are they high quality recordings of music? If so you may lose high frequencies unless you record at a high sample rate. And if you record at a high sample rate the computer may not ...

Re: Audacity Already Running Error
How does that solve the problem of rogue Audacity automatically launching on startup? You mean NewPrefsInitialized=1 ? It has been said to fix "already running" once before, after all manner of permissions and integrity checks achieved nothing. If Audacity is not listed in top or Activity...

Re: Not sure if I should download Audacity
Kaspersky should give you pretty good protection against viruses, but there are many other ways that computers may be compromised other than viruses. The big problem with XP now, is that it is not maintained. If any of the "bad people" discover a security loophole in XP, no one is looking...

Re: Seriously Random Recording Issue
Audacity is running version 2.0.6, my Mac is Yosemite 10.10.2. I was not aware that Yosemite isn't supported. What are the chances of something like this being the root of the problem? It's slightly possible if you are recording into tracks that have already been used. You could drag 2.0.6 to trash...

Re: Audacity Already Running Error
removed cfg files This is the better method - worth trying. In Finder, Choose Go > Go to Folder and type: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ Open audacity.cfg if it exists, select all the text and delete it. If audacity.cfg does not exist, open a new file in TextEdit. Then type the following a...

Re: recording internal music on Mac
this is way too many steps, considering how much I record, and how often I switch from recording back to regular Mac usage If the problem was not hearing sound in other apps after changing the system output device to Soundflower, the answer is to run Soundflowerbed, or use Sound Siphon, which avoid...
