Also please explain exactly what you are trying to do - there may be a better way. What is the Windows app that you need to run while recording in Audacity?

Re: Moving Clips Vertically
To get the "exact" same place in time: 1) Select the audio that you you want to move. 2) Alt+Ctrl+X ("Split Cut" also in the "Edit > Remove Special" menu") 3) "Enter" key (de-select current track) 4) Up/down cursor to the track where you want to move it ...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
"Do you have split lines (black vertical lines in the project separating clips in the track)? Clicking on those lines to merge clips or clicking close to those lines can cause crashes. Usually it only affects specific projects. Is it only one project that crashes?" Yes, I have the black l...

Re: Importing MP3 files (Not Responding)
If Koz's answer did not help, please give us the version of Windows and Audacity (see the pink panel at the top of the page). Note that if the MP3 file is very long you may have to wait some time after the time remaining gets to 0 or 1 seconds before the waves appear. Audacity is slower doing that t...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
You can install different versions, including nightly builds, if you install each into a different home folder (each folder with a different name like “Audacity 203”, “Audacity 206”, “Audacity Alpha”, for example). To clarify, I think you may be using the word "install" in a general sense...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
"Reinstall doesn't scrub Audacity clean" What doesn't it clean, and is that problematical? It is not problematical, because if you need to reset Audacity settings, there is an option half way through the Audacity installer to "Reset Preferences". See How do I reset my Audacity s...

Re: crash recovery irregularities
"getting the words right is a big deal" It was "inconsistencies". I originally tried a search with "irregularities" and got nothing. So I just searched "audacity recover inconsistencies" and got the page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recovery.html Tha...

"where you're running Audacity from". I'm running it from the dock, but I'm sure that's not what you meant... I meant the physical folder where Audacity.app is in the file system (that folder is usually the "Audacity" folder inside /Applications). The Dock is merely a shortcut t...

Re: Overdub problem PLEASE HELP.
when I set Line In to default and restart Audacity and record there is nothing? and it still records the DRUM track into the second track, without no input from Line In, even though I can hear the line in through my headphones, so i need to delve further and try to make sure Audacity is set up to l...

Re: Disallow adjusting an envelope inflection point ...
I'd say +1 for Baylink!! Same problem appears when you try to add a new point when using Equalization effect. Mouse click does create a new point, but also changes the curve, which is ridiculous :) This made me almost stop using Equalization... We'll add your vote for some way to add a control poin...
