Re: Seting default initial settings for users.
Further to Steve's reply, if you need to force load those settings in case the users change them, this is what needs to be set in the audacity.cfg settings file: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/preferences.html#stored . [AudioIO] RecordChannels=1 [SamplingRate] DefaultProjectSampleRate=16000 Gale

Re: help please- " couldn't find the project data folder".
pointing out that the .aup file and its accompanying _data file must have exactly the same name / characters in the name. currently i am once again able to open and edit my audacity file. I'm glad to hear that. It's an accompanying _data folder, not _data file. Don't rename either the AUP file or t...

Re: Audacity 2.0.6 not installing on Mac OS 10.10.2
2.0.6 does not officially support Yosemite. The next 2.1.0 release out soon should do so. Make sure you are following Installation: Do NOT run Audacity from the DMG!!!! . Also try this solution to tell Audacity where to place its temporary folder by specifying it in the audacity.cfg settings file: h...

Re: Timer Record automatic saving in Audacity 2.1.0
The visual cues, sadly, are minimal to say the least I'm not sure what you mean. This sounds if it needs a new topic. I mean it doesn't tell you what it's doing - and thus it's not very discoverable :) You mean it does not tell you what it's doing if you already saved a project before you Timer Rec...

Re: Audacity stopped almost all my windows sounds
If you have Windows System Restore turned on you can try going back to a "Restore Point" before the problem started.Zura wrote:Im guessing that the only fix i can do is to restore my entire system because i cannot find anything that works.

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed
Well you say there was no disk problem, but how do you know? Windows reported a problem. You may want to do a SMART check: http://superuser.com/questions/154337/util-to-check-external-usb-drive-health . A disk problem is unlikely because the crash happens almost every time I cancel a long running s...

Re: .AU files should be named sequentially (Audacity crashed
In the next 2.1.0 version of Audacity, recording a Timer Record into a saved project will automatically save the project when the recording ends or if you stop the recording early. Provided that you saved the project (normally empty) before setting up the Timer Record session Yes, that is what I sa...

Re: fender super champ not showing up
Try "Detecting USB and Firewire devices" here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... l#flatline.
Reinstalling Audacity does not reset it unless you enable the box "Reset Preferences" half way through the installer.

Re: Orphans Abounding
No crashes, no other projects open. The error shows when I attempt to open a project from the 'Recent...' menu. If you find some steps that makes it happen, please let us know. Note that if you copy AUP files and _data folders in Explorer while the project is open, this creates orphans in the copy,...

Re: Orphans Abounding
Is Audacity crashing? You will usually see orphan files if you recover a crashed project, and Audacity will normally clean those up automatically when you save the project. Is Audacity showing a popup message about orphan block files or any other error when you open the project normally? Have you sa...
