Re: Not recording any sound
My problem is with converting 33-1/3 vinyl records that are playing on a Jensen stereo turntable JTA-230 into my MacBook OS X 10.8.5 using Audacity 2.0.6 with a USB 2.0 connection between the turntable and laptop. Thanks for the comprehensive description. I had successfully converted two albums and...

Re: Very poor sound quality on export to M4A
Thank you everyone for your replies. The option of converting into AAC using iTunes does the job. I also tried the custom FFmpeg export but could not get the resulting file to play - probably my lack of knowledge of what to put within the options available. I exported 256 kbps stereo and 320 kbps s...

Re: It play 4 min. in 10 seconds.
Have you tried launching Audacity from the terminal by typing:
If you get underruns noted in the terminal, try a higher number in the PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC command. If the problem is unchanged, try a lower number.

Code: Select all
env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 audacityGale

Re: no choice for stereo when selecting USB PnP Sound Device
djames, I am currently dealing with the same issue. Did you have any luck finding a solution? Thanks! Did you look in "Go > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup."? If that says "1 in, 2 out", then it presumably won't record in stereo. You don't say what version of Audacity, what version...

Re: [File Compression] Exported aac file too large
I recorded a stream from a phone in .aac format (there is no way of changing the settings) I edited the file and trimmed some of the portions. This should, in theory, reduce the file size but more on that later. I chose to export the file in .aac format with quality set to '100' (which is the defau...

Re: Timer Record automatic saving in Audacity 2.1.0
Also, if there were an unattended export, what would be the export location and file name? This one isn't hard - if one did this automatically as an option then you need the user to specify the export format, the filename can be taken from the project name and the location can be the same as the pr...

Re: mp3 volume suddenly very low
Yup, all those steps have been followed to the t. Volume is at max everywhere (system preferences as indicated in the tutorial, the apps, Soundflowers audio set up...). And everything sounds fine while recording, or just listening without Audacity (rerouting Soundflower), so the speakers haven't di...

Re: Audacity & Sound Issue
Please state the exact three-section version of Audacity from "Help > About Audacity". Check in the device toolbar that you have selected the device that you want to record from. The "host" setting should normally be "MME" unless you want to record sounds that are play...
