Re: Are Yosemite problems strict or will they be solved in f

The Alpha version of Audacity (2.1) that I downloaded to try with Yosemite a few weeks ago is working just fine--if I ignore the restart notices after the unexpected quit. There is no data lost, and it only happens when I go to rewake a file that I'd been working on after a couple of hours of inact...

Re: Split Track Recording Xenyx Q802USB

I can only assume that I'm missing some Audacity settings knowledge re splitting and editing in post. Can you hear what you expect in the Audacity stereo recording, one mic in the left speaker, one mic in the right? If so, use the Track Drop-Down Menu to Split Stereo to Mono then you can use the L....

Re: Recording too loud

In the end I found out that the microphone control in the main environment (Linux) can be used to lower the volume, even though the one in the Audacity window in the virtual machine (Windows) does still not work. It's really a poor idea to record in a Virtual Machine - not only because of an issue ...

Re: I'm getting "stereo" reverb and want none.

Solved (for me at any rate)! I disabled Microphone via Control Panel/Sound/Recording - and now my recording (from the streamed radio programme) is fine - reverb gone. Thanks for following up. That fix should not really be necessary, though. If you set Audacity to record using stereo mix or WASAPI i...

Re: Combining three 24 minute MP3 audio files

I am transcribing my professor's lectures this semester. I am recording them on my iPhone and emailing them to myself. Unfortunately, I am unable to email the entire file and had to split each class lecture into three 24 minute segments. I then converted these segmented files to MP3s and did my tra...

Re: Bug Audio Balance

My version of Windows is Seven SP1. I just put the latest version of the drivers but it changes nothing. Effectively so that the sound is centered I have to shift the balance. It has always been like that. I would argue it should not be like that. The sound should be placed in centre when the balan...

Re: AAC 6 Channels

I made many tests and I think it comes from Audacity. Mkvmerge about if I assemble AAC 6 Channels file that is not spent in Audacity, no problem. Audacity V2.0.2, the file is exported but contains the right voice channel. Audacity v2.0.6, the file will not even be exported. If I export to AAC 2.0 I...

Re: ~8h recording after export shows/plays only 1h19m

Finally I found a work-around by exporting as FLAC I'm pleased that works for you, but it is not a very reliable workaround. There have been a lot of problems for the guys that make the Flac encoder/decoder to make it work reliably when the uncompressed size if greater than 4 GB, and as far as I'm ...

Re: Bug Audio Balance

I tried all the compatibility options but that does not make a difference ... My sound card is a Realtek. As I asked before, what version of Windows are you using? Is there a reason you need to have the balance off centre, such as a hearing impediment you have in one ear? If the sound is only balan...

Re: I don't know what noise is this.

In Windows Sound, Recording tab, right-click over your headset mic, choose Properties then look at the other tabs like Enhancements. Is there any Noise Reduction you can turn on? Have you tried recording something other than noise? If you record your singing or speaking this should be much louder th...
