Re: 2.1.0 install fails with version error
OK, I figured out the problem. When I go to http://audacityteam.org/ and fly over "Download Audacity 2.1.0", it shows http://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html/audacity-win-2.1.0.exe so I should be able to right-mouse "save link as" and then run the result, right? No, that is not the...

Re: Upgrade to 2.1.0 and no more personal theme
Is there anything else that I can try? Unfortunately, we cannot see your computer. This feature should work, but it is unsupported in any case. Are you sure there is only the ImageCache.png file in the "Theme" folder, and nothing else? What language is your Mac running in and what languag...

Re: Amplify and Normalize
something strange about Normalize. It was set to -1dB. I let it do its thing to all 16 tracks. The waveforms looked normal; greater than what they were before. However, when I went to play all the tracks, I heard a VERY LARGE amount of tape hiss noise, and quickly stopped the playing, fearing my he...

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 can't open new projects using a shortcut
it's a "feature" that doesn't worsen any other feature or makes any trouble if it's there. Neither you or I know that. I agree that this seems safe in 2.0.6 but the code has changed since then. We have been trying to fix problems on Linux where it was not possible to open another Audacity...

Re: play a file of an actual written *.wav file
I search for a program with the function that VLC offers : play along of a actual written file . (This file comes over network and has a *.wav with 384kHz , 24bits) I think VLC doesn't support the 384kHz graphically response (audicity can but not evolving). I want to observe the waveform (and spect...

Re: Upgrade to 2.1.0 and no more personal theme
I just explicitly tested the KDE theme from http://jcsu.jesus.cam.ac.uk/~hdc21/design/audacity/ in 2.1.0 on Mavericks. The theme loads as in 2.0.6. I've uninstalled 2.1.0, and re-install it, deleting the old version (2.0.6) and still the same, it doesn't load my theme. You say that you test it with...

Re: Audacity 2.1.0 can't open new projects using a shortcut
I usually do this: 1. Open a folder with backing tracks. 2. Click on the quick access shortcut icon of Audacity, placed in the taskbar. 3. Go to the open folder and drag and drop the tracks (drums, bass, vocals, etc) 4. Play guitar OK but if you set up a file association with the file type(s) in th...

Re: Record button doesn't always start recording
Try rebooting the computer in the first instance.
If that does not help, try adjusting Audio to buffer in the Recording section of Audacity Preferences.
Or try launching Audacity from a terminal by typing:
Gale

Re: Recording From Computer Too Slow
@Prime624 and ja.: You could try quitting Audacity then open ~/.audacity-data/audacity.cfg in your favourite text editor. Delete all the contents of audacity.cfg and replace the contents so there is only this line: NewPrefsInitialized=1 Note that .audacity-data is a hidden folder so you may need to ...

Re: Continuous background Noise Removal
I still need to learn about lowering a pre-recorded level before burning a CD -- IF that is possible. You can use Effect > Normalize... to make all tracks reach the same peak level. This topic is getting rather long and diverse. If you need help with changing level, could you please start a new top...
