Re: Audio Monitor Disabled Until Restart

Audacity does not have "monitoring always on" and playback, recording or monitoring are one project at a time. If you open a new project window, click the recording meter in the new project to monitor there.

This should work in Yosemite - I just tried it.

Re: Cannot record

Cannot make a recording. I just used Camtasia last night, and tried to experiment with Audacity this morning. The tutorial were not helpful. I can create a new project, and hit the record button, but no sound waves appear. Audacity only records audio, not video. If you need help please answer the q...

Re: Crashes when playing tracks with labels

So, I've installed wxWidgets 2.8.12 from source. Now I cannot get the Audacity build to 1) recognize that I have 2.8.12 installed and 2) the packages it wants causes a very strange interaction in APT that results in APT wanting to remove packages that Skype needs. I'm running on an amd64 system and...

Re: Problems Exporting

So i decided to use audacity today to record some audio, but it crashes every time i try and export. I've tried exporting it as different filetypes and to different areas. But every time i click the save button, it crashes. And it crashes so bad that the only way to close the program is to go into ...

Re: Lost all my work tonight

Hello. I had tried to save the file and the program wouldn't let me. I figured I would copy and paste the tracks so I closed the program. When i went to paste the tracks it wouldn't even give me the option to paste. That would never work. Audacity copies to its own clipboard, not the system clipboa...

Re: Extracting voices from movie trailers

Vocal Isolation is very difficult to do and Audacity has no built-in tools for it that I know of. That will be true in this case because of the 5.1 or 7.1 audio, but it can theoretically be done if you have a perfectly aligned, identical copy of the music then invert the music track. It can also be...

If Audacity was running when you uninstalled it, that is expected. If that happened you should have seen a message that some files could not be deleted but can be deleted manually.

Re: audio

There is one thing that often people are often surprised (and disappointed) about... The majority of commercial music is normalized (maximized), including many quiet sounding songs. That means you can't increase those tracks without clipping (distorting). Since you can't boost the quiet songs, the ...
