Re: Saving applied effects
Thanks. So-are you implying that the change is not permanent--if I set the equalizer back to "flat" it will undo the change? Perhaps it would help if you explained what you are trying to do. Equalization applies the curve you see in the dialogue to the audio when you press OK. If you flat...

Audacity before 2.1.2 is unstable if built with wxWidgets 3.x
Some Linux distributions are supplying Audacity builds that are unstable because built with wxWidgets 3.x . Audacity 2.1.1 and earlier do not support wxWidgets 3.x versions, therefore if Audacity is built with such a version there will be many bugs . This applies for example to Ubuntu "Daily B...

Re: Cannot record narration
Thanks for the information. You need to select the microphone you are trying to use in the Recording Device box in Device Toolbar . Here it is shown bordered in red so you can recognise it, using the internal mic: [windevtool][/windevtool] If you are trying to use a USB mic, connect it before launch...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
We would need one sample containing the noise only, followed by the sound you want to keep (before you do Noise Reduction).
Have you read http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Noise_Reduction#Tips? To reduce artifacts you may need to increase Sensitivity.

I'll add your "vote" for Effects "favourites" as you suggested. Do you want to vote for mousewheel scrolling of the Effect Menu? It is not something we can do yet, though. However, all this LADSPA/LV2/Nyquist/VAMP/VST is complete Jargon/Gobbledegook, and doesn't tell me exactly w...

Re: Comparing Noise Removal/Reduction between 2.0.6 and 2.1.
I've still have a bad feeling about the frequency smoothing. It should imo be logarithmic and not linear I'm having trouble with "Frequency Smoothing" and "Sensitivity". I don't know how to advise people about these controls other than "leave them at their default settings&...

Re: Change pitch, voices distorted
If you are trying to change pitch without changing tempo, Effect > Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift... produces less artifacts than Effect > Change Pitch.
You should not take pitch change too far. A little pitch change and a little EQ change may work for you.

Perhaps you were temporarily short of RAM, though it seems unlikely on your machine.

Re: Lost all my work tonight
I wish the program had an auto save feature like the email sites do where something that you're working on is saved periodically as a draft (so to speak). Then when you close the program it could prompt you and tell you that you have data in the draft and if you want to save or delete those files. ...

Re: Saving applied effects
All the EQ data is saved in Audacity's folder for application data . The curve points are saved in EQCurves.xml in that folder. The EQ settings (which curve you are currently using, filter length, if you have turned off grids and so on) is stored in the audacity.cfg settings file in that folder. Gale
