Re: Static/distortion on recording in Yosemite

I think the problem is dropouts - you don't hear them between phrases because there is no surrounding audio. You might find something useful here Managing Computer Resources and Drivers - Audacity Wiki. I think it may well not be an Audacity issue.

Re: audio unit effects

Yes the pluginregistry.cfg file shows that Audacity cannot enable those Audio Units. Changes were made to Audio Units support in 2.1.0 so that AU's would load in Audacity running on Yosemite.

Do you have an Intel or PPC processor https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201580?

You have to go one level deeper - the "index.html" file should be in a "manual" folder inside the "help" folder.

Please post the audio device info I requested in my last post ( Help > Audio Device Info... top right of the Audacity menus). Then we can talk using specific device names.

You cannot import a stereo file as mono, no. You have to wait for it to import and then convert it to stereo (the easiest way is Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono).

Re: audacity 2.1.0 + xp sp3 error

Audacity does launch on XP SP3 without Visual Studio which is the main case. and i have only installed latest vstudio after facing this issue, hoping to solve problems. I didn't understand that, but if there was an issue the correct approach would be to install the VS2013 Redistributables and defin...

Re: audio unit effects

It is 2.1.0 audio units are enabled and effects are grouped by type , still not visable. Can you open Finder, type ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ then attach the file "pluginregistry.cfg" from that folder. Please see here for how to attach files: http://forum.audacityteam.org/vie...
