Re: Time shift tool
On my MacBook Pro I pressed fn and F5 and that did activate the Time Shift Tool. Now my problem is I can't go back to the I beam cursor unless I exit the project. I tried pressing fn F5 again thinking this might be a toggle function The F1 to F6 shortcuts for the Tools Toolbar tools are not toggles...

Re: Problem opening large .wma in Audacity v 2.1
I can open in 2.1.0 my project based on this problem file, which was created with 2.0.5. 2.1.0 sees that waveform all right, although slightly modified (mono instead of original false stereo, some cuts, deamplifications). If 2.0.5 imported the file sufficiently to give a corrupted waveform, then th...

Re: Problem opening large .wma in Audacity v 2.1
When you say you have a "PowerBook", is that actually an Intel machine? The problem we have in 2.1.0 where files don't import relates to the QuickTime importer, which imports MPEG-4 audio, not WMA. See Audacity 2.1.0: FFmpeg required for MP4/M4A/MOV/ALAC import . FFmpeg should automaticall...

Re: locked Play Region/cursor
Related, do you intend that when you drag from the arrows of a locked play region, it plays the dragged piece plus the entire locked region, or that when you click above either arrow, it plays the locked region? That seems to give no way to quick-play from where you clicked - how about doing that i...

So how can we resolve this when the effect's author is saying something else? Stop listening. [plugging ears] LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA. I'm not quite sure what your point is. Nor me. You (Koz) seem to say you have more success with Frequency Smoothing above zero. From the wiki: http://wiki.audacityt...

Re: Unintentional bass boost from analogue source
What input of SoundBlaster did you connect to? Make sure you connected to a line-level input, not the mic input. Set Audacity to record from that SB line-in, not what U hear. Turn off Windows Enhancements and Sound Blaster sound effects: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshoo...

Re: EQ curve for Czech 78s
I trying to record an old Czech 78 vinyl. I'm following the step-by-step manual http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_78rpm_records.html and I come stuck after inverting RIAA as I don't know the Equalization used by ESTA records. Does anyone know the EQ for ESTA? 78's are not made from vin...

If you were trying to save or export to Program Files, you can't unless you are logged in as an administrator.

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
I suggest Noise Reduction Of The Beast 6,6,6 should be default with a valuable variation being 12,6,6. I've used that multiple times now with various posters' difficult productions and high, sometimes startling success. That would put frequency smoothing default at the right extreme of the scale, w...

Re: Problems with the new Noise Reduction replacing Noise Re
As far as I know, "0" Frequency smoothing is 21.533 Hz at 44100 Hz sample rate Zero frequency smoothing should be "off". If that is not the case then that is a bug. Hi Bill, You wrote much of the Noise Reduction docs, but they do not accord with what Paul is saying about frequen...
