Re: Error while opening sound device
Go to Windows Sound (Playback tab) and make sure the Realtek speakers are enabled. Then restart Audacity. You may have to experiment. WASAPI host is still somewhat experimental. You may have to change back to MME host in Audacity to play to the Realtek speakers. Or using WASAPI, right-click over Rea...

Re: Muting external audio (used as template) to record over
As it says in the pink panel at the top of this page, Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. Please upgrade to the latest 2.1.0 from http://web.audacityteam.org/download.Grahame42 wrote:Audacity 1.3.

Re: Will not record from Yamaha mixer
I just down loaded audacity and it is the most recent . I also down loaded the most recent drivers from Yamaha. One was a ysb driver but it did not make any difference. As we asked, what version of Audacity? See the pink panel at the top of the page. What is the make and model number of the mic and...

Re: Crackling audio playback - multiple formats and volume l
It seems that the solution provided changing "Audio to Buffer" works with Roland Quad Capture, Mac Mini, Yosemite 10.1.1 Thanks for letting us know. It seems there is a very consistent problem with default "Audio to buffer" being too high for external playback devices. I created...

Re: Recordings at 192 kHz very faulty
It did not appear with other applications and it appeared under all circumstances, particularly with 32 bit an float. But it did not appear when the sample rate was high while the project rate was e.g. 48 kHz. Should PortAudio do the down-sampling, one had to have to look there, should Audacity do ...

Re: Help Needed Recording Vocals Alone When Using Backing Tr
I am using the Audacity version 2.0.5 on Windows 7, via the .exe installer. My current issue is how do I make vocal recordings without the backing track being played while I record? I want to only record my voice, but it seems to record the backing track as well when it is playing back. My recordin...

Re: Very low sound recording for interviews conducted via Sk
[puzzled look] I don't remember having problems like that. When I record from SoundFlower, I listen to Audacity. The main benefit is you don't need to change settings to record computer playback. You don't need to turn software playthrough on in Audacity, and after recording, you don't need to chan...

Re: Tangled Up In Blue
It seems to me that the accident that gets me into it is too inevitable, particularly too close to clicking out a merge line. If you select over a split line, you can remove it without clicking by using Edit > Clip Boundaries > Join. Maybe there could be a special button to zoom in that way. The mo...

Re: Remove "Delta binaural beat frequencies" ?
When I open the m4a file in audacity, and click Stereo Track to Mono, it deletes the lower track. If I then click the x in the upper left area, it deletes the remaining track. Steve said to use the Audio Track Dropdown Menu then Split Stereo to Mono. That will create one mono track for each of the ...
